Chicka did you send me these turkeys?

They usually stop laying eggs when the broody hormone kicks in. I would wait until she stops laying to add eggs for hatching.I think she is. Most of my girls are molting right now so I'm only getting eggs from 4 'younger' hens. Today she was on the nest for 3 hours. Long after she had finished up her business. When I pulled out an egg she immediately growled at me and stuffed it back under her.If she is contemplating broodiness I rather she did it now then wait till December like one of my hens did last year.
A wild turkey showed up at the building I work at. Wild might be a bit of a stretch though since He followed me around like a pet! I had to go help with an Audio Visual problem and he followed one of our grad students off towards the Memorial Union.
I have recipes if it's in season.
I got on the scale yesterday and I'm sure my scream of dismay could be heard clear into town.
You get over 55 and it just adds up so quickly. I was another one of these lucky gals who was 98 pounds when I entered high school. Now if I could keep things at 125 I would be thrilled. Bad back, bad knee, DH and I used to do endurance cycling. Not anymore. He used to do 24 hour races. I used to ride centuries with him. Of course he rode them a lot faster than I did. LOL.
As for horses the first thing I learned about mine is that if they want you off their backs, you're out of there.
When they showed up at our gate they were both covered in a crust of mud and cow flop from head to foot. We figure they had spent some time with the cattle in a pasture down the road before they ventured up to our farm.
We scrubbed the crud off of them and washed Buck's feet which is when we found the injuries. Imagine. Raw skin and cow poop. Not a good combination. Both his front feet were infected and swollen. The vet gave him a shot of antibiotics and then an oral round and he responded very quickly. All we had to do was keep them clean and dry and they regenerated new pad very quickly.
He's a very sweet and happy boy who loves to 'guard' the chickens. It's probably a real challenge for him. The Border Collie half says "I gotta keep these critters in line!" while the Coon Hound half is telling him to tree them.
Here he is enjoying his 'first snow". Sometimes I just don't understand how people can be so cruel.
That's what that noise was.
I quit smoking and gained 50 lbs.
Then I got divorced.
Now I don't want to talk about it.
Turkey is still broody.
