We lost one earlier this year and was headless, this one just had snap neck nothing else. Only predator we have seen been a coon :/

Amish neighbor found 3 or 4 fledglings with their heads bit off. He said coons like to reach through chicken wire when birds are asleep, pull their heads through, and well, the rest is pretty clear.

Another reason to dis chicken wire for anything other than inside walls.

I don't need any reason to hate raccoons. I simply hate them.


I had two roosters in a temporary pen outside my back door. One morning I woke up to find them out of the pen and one had lost most of his tail. That night I set up the game camera and this is what I caught. I was able to catch two possums and one small raccoon. THe largest raccoon that I caught on another night with the camera was not caught.

Sorry for typos and whatever. Went to doctor today. I have an inflamed SI joint in my pelvis. Got a huge injection of anti-inflammatory drugs, zylocaine and steroids directly into the joint.

It wasn't fun. Got orders to take it easy for two days.


Yah, right, liek that is going to happen.

good grief... I count my lucky stars every time I hear about another killed

Around 18hrs with no power, came back on around 10am.
We got around another foot today but it compacted. Calling for up to another foot tomorrow :-(
This afternoon I decided it was time to take the mower deck off the lawn tractor and put on the snowblower... :-D
Now I'm taking a break from stacking firewood in the dark. Have a load of log length coming and have to get the split pile out of the way. They're not supposed to come till next week but they are notorious for showing up early without calling and I'm notorious for not being ready. They unloaded it in front of my garage one winter :-(
Note to self, next yr get ready for winter before the first major snow storm and power outage (hope I listen...)

I still haven't done it, still haven't had predator trouble. Do plan on running a few strands of potent electric fence around our coops and runs. It'll stop a bear should stop about anything.

Today when I went out to get eggs I saw a few little critters go scurrying out of the coop through the vents even though there is welded wire over them. One of the darn things had quills that were brown and white like a hedge hog! I could not believe it, I tried to do a double take but it was gone! What the heck could it have been?
