The Old Folks Home

years ago found a caterpillar or ??? something in Green Giant peas- I didn't eat that brand for many months. When I finally tried again - guess what - yep ANOTHER - just the same looked like a bunch of peas strung together. What are the odds of that? To this day I never buy their peas again.

As for the worm in the coke bottle- one of their reps came and collected it. Never heard from them. But I switched brands of pop. The glass shards in the Bumble Bee solid white albacore tuna - they said were salt from the processing . Whatever, crunching down on something hard and sharp were not appetizing. In later years the solid white that my mom paid for turned into mushy pink, or even some parts blood red. They told my mother the term "white" tuna encompassed pink to almost red. WHAT???? They never did find an explanation for solid tuna that was pre mashed in the can.

So many wonderful food experiences, the white thin worms on my brother's just opened Nestle white chocolate bar, he tried again months later to find the same result. Most likely because of old product in Walgreens much too long. Also a big bag of mixed nuts, in the shell, that contained a large spider web complete with little dead bugs in it. We did return that and didn't go back to that store.

Twice we got big caterpillars or something similar in Meijer's brand Macaroni and cheese. Didn't have a clue till the boiling brought the critter to the top. My son stopped eating Mac & cheese. I fortunately never wanted any.

Gee generations of bad food - stored wrong, old stock, unsanitary store conditions etc. Obviously I've been able to find enough food without surprise quests, to blow up into a quite "fluffy" personage. I do pour things out on a paper plate and inspect closely before I will add to the pot or other ingredients.

Wishing everybody a Happy Thanksgiving.....albeit belated.
We did the Thanksgiving get-together at my parents' house today, so you are right on time for me.

Hope everybody else's went well.

Mom's arm has still not fully healed - there are a couple of fractured bits that are being stubborn. The doctor is adamant about her not falling; he says it could fracture again. She has some use of it, but it's not really useful for most things that you use your dominant hand for. Healing can be slow when you are older folks . . .

I grow my own, use thuricide natural worm killer on my cabbages broccoli and cauliflower. Everytime I took to work a bowl full of homegrown broccoli and ranch dressing, get to the bottom of the container, there's a green worm....I triple washed and used thuricide.... did I eat any worms...IDK... Lol!

Kristine M Smith This guy raised an abandoned moose calf with his Horses, and believe it or not, he has trained it for lumber removal and other hauling tasks. Given the 2,000 pounds of robust muscle, and the splayed, grippy hooves, he claims it is the best work animal he has. He says the secret to keeping the moose around is a sweet salt lick, although, during the rut he disappears for a couple of weeks, but always comes home.

Suddenly I don't feel hungry anymore...lol.

Thanks Beer Can I thought only my family was blessed with a "surprise," in every box or can. Not one of them was Cracker Jack toy.

Oh my father once peeled back the crust on a slice of rye and it had a dead worm. He ate it anyway.

He said it was more protein. I think he just like to pretend he was tough.

That's sick. Especially when he called my cooking, crap! I should have dished up some night crawlers.
