Glad to see you @Alaskan
. How is the monastery son doing?

Eh.... not quite sure.

I told him that if he wanted to bail early he could... we have bunches of relatives all over Texas.

But he says he is learning lots and wants to stick it out.

He is now at the one in Texas, he was at the Arizona one for just a few weeks...the heat almost did him in...he couldnt sleep at night. Poor boy is used to sleeping with the temp at 40F

The Texas monastery is in a way cooler location than that one in Arizona...so now the boy can sleep.

The Arizona one also did prayers at midnight and early in the morning. The Texas one actually gives you a full nights sleep. :D My boy is greatly enjoying that.

It is interesting.... they are not very demanding of him physically (they haven't had him dig ditches or anything), but he says the brain sprain is pretty intense.

It will be interesting to get a look at him when he gets home...one more month. My sister visited him a couple weeks back and sent me pictures..he is thinner, but looks good. Actually he was a touch over weight before he left... so no stress, he doesn't yet look thin... maybe close to ideal weight.

Alaskan,   looks like you lost a little weight:idunno .   Are you trapping enough  raccoons and squirrels???:gig

Actually we got carribou this year, and lots of our duck, and someone gave us a free bunny :drool yum!!!

We havent been eating any squirrels lately

Al, I have less chores in winter. I'm not starting/watering/transplanting seeds/seedlings, watering the garden or pretending to weed, mowing the lawn, pruning bushes, picking food, canning food, processing roosters, making stock, preparing for winter, splitting/stacking/hauling wood...

Except for snow removal, the winter here is pretty "relaxing." Trying to add incubating and raising chicks to spring, summer or fall just makes things a bit more crazy for me.

Da crane! Da Crane!

Good to see you, Alaskan.

BB2K tried to hatch some Serama eggs back in the Spring, and only had one make it out of the shell. We had a house chick for ages (good thing Seramas are so small!) Poor Stella didn't know she was a chicken - silly bird was seriously traumatized when we put a younger one in the cage with her. Also, she crows.

Dear SCG, of course you made an impression on me. I was only joking about the studs, but yes, we only have snow chains here in the tropics of Alabama. Actually, I think of you often. I think of you when it's really hot outside and I think of you when I eat maple syrup or turnip greens. I think of you when I see a story about Putin, or when I mail a package, I think of you when I see (or plant) daffodils, and I think of you when I pass an old cemetery. I even think of you if I find a coin laying around the house! Yes, you left quite the impression on me, and I am thankful for it.

ETA: I've been meaning to ask.....what's the symbol in your profile pic?
