Those are some educated coyotes!! Do they read this forum about how far from a fence a predator will dig and backed up another couple of feet????

You need a big live trap. Or if you know somebody who hunts or traps invite them over one night. Coyote pelts are in demand in the area fur market and trapping is quite common around us. I would go as far as putting electric fencing where I could even if it is only covering 3 sides of your run and coop.

Also consider getting a big tough dog or two to guard your coop.

Here in San Diego there used to be a 25 dollar bounty on Coyote pelts. Now its against the law.

Just make sure of the rules and regs for your state AND county. SSS is always good.

So true. Right now coyotes are in season for hunting in MO. Fortunately, we live in an area dense with livestock farming. Goats, sheep and cattle are abundant thanks to the lush grazing. Plus there are so many ridges and hills that livestock is king. Farmers have the right to dispose of nuisance wild animals whenever they pose a threat to livestock or people.

About 5 years ago, Amish men out hunting in their annual predator sweep encountered a male cougar about a mile and a half from our farm. The cougar threatened them and wouldn't retreat when they encountered it and they were forced to shoot it. Afterwards they phoned the conservation department and reported the incident as cougars are protected in MO. The game warden came out, interviewed the men, reported it as a legit kill and took the cat away.

For the OP, call the local conservation dept and report the problem. They might be able to help by providing live traps for coyote control or at least make them aware of the fact that there is a problem and they need to deal with it or the landowner is going to be forced to.

Personally, we always have a 45 nearby whenever we are outside or in the timber. Just smart to be protected in case we encounter a coyote or feral hog.

For those who have come to grips with their kid's/others bad choices, it's good to see and hear. You are so right in that the maker said to love all and let him do the judgement. It's not right for us to judge another for their choices. A primary reason why I dislike organized religion... they are quick to judge and slow to love/accept, but they want your money either way. And the maker also said you have a direct line to him through his son... you don't "need" the church to get where we all hope to be going

I agree totally on your view of organize religion. I stopped going to church many years ago after being shunned by the members. I sent my children to sunday school and I had them baptized. Some still go to church but we all love and worship daily from where ever we may be! As for the money part I give often and of my own choosing of who needs it or needs what.
My daughter that is the topic of my conversation does go to church and she and her family are very active in the church. I feel if the good lord told me it is not my place to judge her then no one else has that right. I also believe that the maker is the only one that should judge any and all of us.
