The Old Folks Home

I know, right, Al?

Meanwhile Frankie Macdonald is predicting we're going to get slammed on Thursday and to stock up on green tea and chinese food.

I think that's good advice.

Gave my driveway another 80 lbs of salt and 10 gallons of sand today... just need the tea and chinese food and then I'm ready.

My driveway now has nice berms along the side.... so who cares if it snows or ices...now that I have "bumpers" on my driveway, and my risk of rolling my car down the hill is nill...I am all laid back and happy. :ya

Yeah, it just ain't fair, is it?

DH and I were able to get out and get a walk in the timber in today. It was in the low 40's here and in the mid 40s tomorrow. Some colder by the weekend and a chance for snow on New Years Day but as my husband is so fond of reminding me, every half way nice day we have puts one more day of winter behind us....of course every bad day we have puts one less day of winter behind us, too. So on the bright side we are getting closer to spring.

Christmas went well. The meal was a success! Even though we had to drive though blizzard conditions for the first half of the journey to get there...the food was still piping hot when we arrived.

The hotel was 95% empty so those of us who had travelled rented rooms to wait out the blizzard. We left later morning to give the plows time to clear. The roads weren't fantastic but we made it all the way back just to get stuck at the farm. We expected snow but it exceeded our expectations.

DH cleared snow so he could get around with the feed equipment, and then I took over and cleared a path in front of him so he make it to the pasture. Then I started at our yard and got the other trucks out. It'll take a bit more time to get the cars out.

.

It's hard to believe I'd cleared the yard of snow and it was table top smooth prior to this. There was no snow around the house...I'd cleared it all off for the chickens and rabbits...lol. It'll take another 2-3 days to get everything cleared. At least we can get around now.

is pretty much how we feel about it too...lol!

We don't want any snow. Or rain. No precipitation at all actually.

If we could send this moisture to those of you who need it, we would. Lots of talk and worry about not being able to get onto the fields in the spring. We couldn't finish seeding fall crops because of excessive rain. I was driving the combine through standing water to get to the crop on the other side Our ditches are full of water and cattails. Normally we're in a dry area needing rain. Now someone turned on a giant faucet and they've forgotten to turn it off.

I'd certainly be ok with not having to clear snow.
