The Old Folks Home

We finally got about 2 inches of snow three days ago which isn't bad. What was bad was the -1 degree lows we had after that that were nasty. My rooster coop isn't insulated so I had to put them back in the main coop. Nobody is happy about that, especially the hens. I told them to toughen up, it was only for a few days. Today the high is in the mid 20s and it's going to be 50 this next week so I'll be able to separate them again tomorrow. I opened up the coop today simply because they were working on one another's nerves not to mention mine when I went out to feed them this morning. I'll be surprised if they go out though. Silly birds do not like snow on their feet.

Hybernation. -21 F with -36 windchill at daylight. Temp is now 5 above (first time in days) but wind is gusting and sun is almost below treetops so temps are starting to drop again.
Tonight is bitter again. Tomorrow should be a bit better.
The Packer game in Greenbay tomorrow should be interesting.
They have already announced they will be giving away free hot cocoa at all the concession stands and posting instructions on how to recognize hypothermia.
Welcome to the next Ice Bowl. We will NOT be at the game! Temps might get up into the teens at the stadium and there is going to be a nice wind coming off the big water (Lake Michigan).
The kids offered us their season ticket holders' post season discount. No thanks. We'll watch from our matching Lazy Boys' thank you.

Hope you enjoyed your coffee clutch Al!!!

I am socializing in a minute.....no joke.

I have actually joined a "meet up in a different coffee place each Saturday morning " group.

Try not to die of the shock.
Lol...very cool! I hope you have a great time at the coffee group!

I/we did something like that starting in 2014 (I think it was) Sort of like we do here...but on a different site, people chatted and some of us said "Lets get together to chat!" So we did...lol. It's pretty cool to meet completely new people. I can talk in person with anyone...but I don't go out with friends and such. It has been interesting and it's opened my eyes how some people have a difficult time taking that first step of going out. Some never do. I just took a deep breath and went for it...and went to the first meet up by myself. DH went afterwards with me.

Life's too short not to be a little crazy and have a little fun.

Plans today: chores and working toward getting everything cleared to ship calves this week. We were supposed to go to a funeral but DH felt we'd run out of time for being ready.

GO PACK GO

(Roll Tide for the Alabama folk)

Stay warm, everyone. It's frigid out there... got all 3 stoves going.

Yeah, Roll Tide! Thanks, SCG!

We actually got about two inches of snow in town which resulted in overtime pay for me, and about a half inch of snow/sleet out here in the country. Staying in today and eating taco salad.

Neighbors dropped by today. They moved down here from North Dakota and showed us pictures of their home back in ND. The snow is 3/4s of the way up the kitchen windows and up to the peak of the roof of their old chicken house. They are relishing the Missouri winter even through it is just freaking cold outside.

They just bought 50 chickens. My kind of people!

My mom tried to get us all to move to south Dakota when I was little... I really didn't want to.... Texas, sure, not further north...

Amen to that Kusanar. They said they are having one of the hardest winters in years up there. They moved down to Missouri in October. They sure dodged that bullet.
