The Old Folks Home

Penny I'm so sorry. Hugs!

My Dr.s office called and all my test's came back fine. So I made an appt. with another Dr. that I have not seen before but I am hoping we can find out what is going on.

Thanks so much for the update.

I take that as a good sign.....must be just a tiny little something that is causing trouble, and as soon as it is found it will be fixed.....at least that is what I am gunna believe until told otherwise. :D

Penny, all I can do is send hugs and prayers your way, no words that I can think of can help you with what you are facing with your mom. It's between her and God now. You really need to focus as much as you can on yourself especially with your surgery looming so close at hand. I know it's hard but sometimes you just have to temporarily put yourself first.

Chickadoodles, I am relieved to hear that your doctor isn't leaving any stones unturned. Better to be safe and have peace of mind. You take care also in the mean time. Prayers for you also.

I'm still pretty much laid up from my close encounter of the worse kind with the ice on Sunday. Don't think I broke a rib. No crepitus or displacement that we can feel in my ribs. Thank goodness. I'm just bruised and miserable. Didn't help myself going out to put my nets back up yesterday either. DH and I have pretty much been passing the OTCs back and forth as we occupy the sofa. I told him nothing much wrong with us other than we are getting a bit long in the tooth.

That's the diagnosis that is hardest to swallow.

@microchick glad bruising is the worst.. My Brother gf is major drama queen
nurse cornered me to say your Ma is usually one of the first ones awake
and this morning she didn't want to get up so called your Brothers phone
Ma isnt any worse or better than the last time I was there

microchick, bruised ribs hurt, and tend to take time to heal. Just take it easy, which is easier said than done, I know, but the less you do, the less they hurt, and the quicker they heal.

What happened to 'No Pain No gain'?
It has got me this far, I do try to use some restraint and common sense also.
I do worry if nothing is hurting. Something like, will I get up from this one, or when this starts hurting it's gonna be real bad.

I am glad it worked for you too. I have actually used this method for years now, and found it to really work, otherwise I would not have posted about it.

Perhaps @superchemicalgirl could hang a HUGE bunch of basil over the death turkey's nest and it would calm her down. Plus, if there are any flies now, they would be gone.

Penny1960, I wasn't too tickled about getting up early this morning myself, LOL. FYI, I'd keep an eye on things just to be safe. Elderly often exhibit a subtle change in behavior when they are getting sick. Bladder infection, flu, cold, etc.

Getaclue, yeah, I found that out the hard way yesterday outside putting up that blasted netting so I could let the chickens out. My husband wasn't feeling well and the poor things had been penned up for 5 days. They were starting to chew on the roosts, the nesting boxes..... one another. I told my husband that I hope it was the last time I had to take that blasted net down. He told me not to hold my breath. I broke a rib almost 4 years ago when our then puppies knocked me down on concrete. The first thing that popped into my head after I slipped on Sunday and made contact with the post was 'oh no, not again!'

Well, let's see, I suffer from Rheumatic heart disease, atypical RA, two bouts of Lyme disease with residual arthralgia and neuritis, unstable lumbar vertebrae, spinal arthritis, lumbar scoliosis, plantar fasciitis and metatarsus aductus (deformed feet) all of which causes me to suffer from chronic pain. In spite of it all, I face the world with a smile on my face. I work along side my husband on our farm. I garden, I build, I take care of my chickens, I cycle and I ride a dirt bike. This time 10 years ago I was a competitive cyclist and helping my husband build speed bikes in search of a world record that we finally obtained.

Yet my aches and pains are nothing when compared with what some of the brave ladies on the thread are dealing with right now as far as their health is concerned.

I am 63.5 years old, and a petite 5'2" tall from tough Pennsylvania Duetch, Irish and Cherokee stock. It wasn't until two years ago that I finally gave in and agreed to start taking medication for my chronic pain. My doctor understand that I will never give int o my py physical problems and wants me to keep on being active. The way I figure at this point in time, I've earned my stripes.

No pain no gain? HA! I like Never give up, Never surrender better.

More power to you @microchick I and you are not far apart on that one 57 this year
as long as we can stay active we can get through any thing
