The Old Folks Home

I use shaving in the coop/nest boxes during every season except for winter..then I use straw.

Thus Speckled Sussex laid a small pink egg in the beginning..
it got a bit bigger, she is 4 yrs. old and still laying. Love the shavings.

lol..I just may have too many photos of my hens. Laying. :D

Use shavings, always in my brooder.

I have several other photos of this girl before she got to this
point, laying her first egg..squeeking and pushing, and grunting,
then laid a pretty small egg. Poor thing. They got bigger, as she
laid more..she got real good at it..being a nice little leghorn.

There is the backhoe coming up to get me.

Cynthia...I don't think one can have too many pictures of their chickens. I have 3772 pictures on my phone...99.5% are of the chickens, their eggs, their chicks...I'm sure you guys can imagine.

@ Alaskan. Glad to hear you got out! Wow...quite a pic!

SCG - Chores, washing what seems like 100,000 eggs for family, making dinner, vaccinating cattle, fixing up the new box to move the young roosters, moving the broodies to where the roosters were, moving the house chickens out, cleaning the bunnies, making supper, hopefully sitting down with the fam for a movie because the boy is home tonight, checking BYC and probably going to bed.
I don't know what's up for tomorrow. I think I have laundry if the boy isn't using the machine. Maybe making those new nests?

Sounds like you have a busy day planned. I planned to sew all day but so far I've gotten a haircut and gone grocery shopping, moved some chickens around (only 6 left in my house!!!), cleaned brooders, vacuumed, finished some laundry and did some basic animal maintenance (filled feeders/waterers, added shavings to the nastiness that is my coop...)

Going to need a shower then hoping to go sew.

I ground hard white wheat into flour using a Kitchenaid flour mill. The bread is in the oven now. I also cleaned up the kitchen.

Meal planning for the week is done and I will be heading to do the weekly shopping after the bread is out of the oven.

It is a fairly normal weekend.

I don't think I'll get to cleaning the eggs today. Babysitting the dishwasher right now (it won't fill properly) and the egg bowl I use is in there.

Like Ron I also need to clean, specifically around the microwave so the guys can move the new one in. This one has almost died. It stopped turning off when we open the door and last night it kept dying. It's time.

Right now I'm icing so I'm ready for vaccinating...lol. Multitasking...
