The Old Folks Home

Well I generally don't selfie, but I did stop the car and take a photo.

They put up the sign a few years ago, I was really excited about it because I though they were going to get cows, but the cows never materialized, just the sign. Then the other day the rooster went out by the sign.

The house it is in front of is a duplex. This past winter I met one of the old guys that lived there at the town sand pit. We had a nice chat - he let me know that BF drives by and doesn't wave. You really can't see the house/porch well from the road, and I tried to explain that. About a month ago my sewing teacher told me that someone she works with lives at the end of my road and that he told her I never wave (the old guy's son). Apparently we are considered unfriendlies? Honestly I rarely see anyone. We live on a dead end, mostly dirt, road. I'm out of the house most days by 0600. There's 8 houses on the road. I've now made it a point that any time I even think I see someone that I start waving erratically.

As far as my weekend plans, had a rough start to the morning. Worked the closing shift last night. Got home and the Cone-Cat (Diva, is she a relative?) decided she was so lonely and sad and needed to be on top of me all night long. It was a hot, sweaty and generally uncomfortable night. Still trying to recover.

I would like to get some of my garden in, but it still isn't warm enough, yet. I would like to quilt some more today but I'm not caffeinated enough for that. I need to get my pack together, and practice putting my tent up one more time. Dsqard and I leave for Yosemite in a week. I'm pretty sure I need a few more things. Monday I am planning to head to the ceremony at our Veterans cemetery for wreath laying.

Poor Kitty!

We got to pick black berries last night so I am making Jelly today!

Sorry folks, but I don't want a big chicken in my yard, or out near the end of the drive. It's fine for the neighbors to have one, but not for me.

When we moved in here, the one thing all the neighbors mentioned about the previous owner, was that she didn't wave at them. I make it a point to wave. Usually, I'm on the screened in porch, and they can't really see me anyway, but I do wave. I make sure to wave, if I'm out in the yard.

We are not considered to be the unfriendlies, however, I've noticed that most of them don't wave. Funny how that works!

Ron, blackberry jelly is my favorite. When we eat at Cracker Barrel, I make them bring me extra blackberry jellies for my biscuits, so I have a few to bring home.
Mine too!

Now I need to get some raspberries and then apricots when in season!

I need to stock up on Jellies and Jams. For me, opening a jar of home canned jelly in the winter is like bringing a piece of summer to a cold and dreary time of the year.

I love the swing. It looks like the kind that used to be on school playgrounds!
Poor Cone-Cat...when will she be be freed?
We will be expecting lots of cool Yosemite pictures!
Yay for supporting the local Vets!!

Love these guys. This song, oh boy. Do I remember the nice cars I used to drive around in when I was young. We had a Mustang, but not convertible.
Wish I had a camera like that for taking video of family. Now, it's a simple thing. Can get a lot of the grandkids..and..older children. And my chickens. :D

No special get togethers for us. DH is working today and Monday.
We've had so many rainy or partial rainy days that I am going to try and get a weeks worth of outside garden stuff done today
Meat birds go to processing on Friday and I'm soooo ready for them to go.
Without the time I take for them, I'll be able to get some other stuff done. They will be 8 weeks on Tuesday and some are BIG.
My Easter Hatchalong chicks are getting big enough to tell gender. I need to sort through them. My chicken-chore friend will be taking a pair of Ameraucanas I hatched from BYCer Rayvncroft, a friend that works at our local feed store/farmers elevator will be taking 2 or 3 pullets. I will be keeping the Ayam Cemani and two that came from Marans hens that were in with an Ameraucana rooster...I want olive eggs!
Okay, got to get busy...but first....coming soon to NotAFarm...

...and maybe chicks...got another broody...
Nice! A lot happening. Is it a long weekend? Ours was last weekend.

Wow...there's fruit! Our apple tree is just blooming...lol. I think that might be what my olive egger rooster that I bought eggs and hatched, except the other way. I "think" he looks like a BCM and I think that's where the blue roosters are coming from. (I think) What type of Marans...BCM?
