The Old Folks Home

we came from Wisconsin back in 68 I was 8 spent 16 years in Juneau landed back here in Washington State we all thought the hills and such back there where high they need to see Rainier, Baker and Saint Helens even with part of her blown off when the volcano took her side off trips back to see cousins it is so brown back there Humid not here

I lived in Lacey, WA for a year when we first got married & DH was stationed at Fort Lewis. Our apartment had this big bay window that we were told looked out over Mt Rainier. It was a month before I actually saw it. I woke up one clear day & there she was, this gigantic, monster sized volcano that filled up all 3 panes of the bay window. I swear I almost stopped breathing & dropped dead! I couldn't figure out how something that massive could be completely hidden for a solid month.

Really amazing job on the picture restoration Deb!!! :thumbsup

It looks amazing! thank you so much for doing it. Taking all those marks off it really allowed me to see the details of the photo and not get distracted by the marks.
I looooove the hat!
THANKYOUTHANKYOU
That is a very very young man.... as well. White gloves which I didint see till I started removing the cracks. Sabor on his belt too... or an extra bayonet.

Love those old pictures.. :D

I only use corn meal. toss the Okra and let it rest and the juice from the Okra will grab hold of the corn meal and the corn meal will grab the juice. Then I salt and pepper and garlic it.... and cook in Bacon fat. Deep frying is not an option here because I have never done it. I do add oil as it disappears into the food.... :drool

deb

Deb fried green tomatoes taste similar to fried okra! ;)

I'm glad you are dragging the kids to these and that you got pictures and will call someone to help fix it before it's worse. I haven't seen graves like that with the white rocks (?) over it in this area (or even the mid-atlantic where I'm from). What's the significance of that?
Texas...we have rocks. :)

That is my uncle''s work actually, and was done only quite recently. ... ... I think he was hoping that it would help show where the bodies are.

However, many grave sites here are outlined in stone or concrete, and then filled in with crushed rock. .. or a giant concrete slab. I think to also help reduce mowing and weeding.

Actually. ..here is the small cemetery we visited today. We haven't yet gotten a new base for the antique stone...but the cemetery is CLEANED OUT!!! (Remember last fall when I posted photos and it was solid thorns?

The tiny white spot by the tree is the oldest stone.

Wow deb, amazing job on the picture restoration!

Al, I love looking at the really old headstones, and markers at the cemetery, when I go visit my granddaugher's grave.

scg, I have an Aunt that, like you, loves to clean the old graves, and gravestones. She does genealogy, and historic research. She, and my uncle have been doing that for years. What you are doing is wonderful, and it looks really nice.

I got a notice that I am suppose to get my 4+ year membership badge, but no sign of it yet. I keep getting notices that I've been awarded trophies. Are trophies the same as the trophy points that show under my screen name?
