The Old Folks Home

I didn't really like the idea of maybe not cutting deep enough and causing prolonged suffering. Maybe I'll try that method some day, after I get comfortable with the PVC cutters.

What do you do with the discards? I was thinking to chuck them over the dropoff where I throw dead chickens & let the scavengers clean it up for me.

Yep, much the same...dump any discards on one of the farthest quarters from the house. The coyotes need love too. ;) :D A day and it's all gone.

We've done the deep burial with the tractor etc...doesn't matter...wildlife dig it up. So we don't bother with burial.

I tried to bury dead chooks. After 10 minutes with a pickaxe, I decided enough was enough. My soil is mostly rocks.

I can't imagine trying to bury by hand unless it's a really soft spot. Making a hole with the tractor was hard enough and since it didn't work...we give up...lol.
(The hole was for a calf...but still) :th

Thank you.... I need to work on buffing it more but its one of my favorites as well.

When I antiqued I got the mixture too strong and they all Went BLACK in seconds... :th With only 000 steel wool I couldnt get into the deeper nooks and crannies. Half the strenght will make it look like an old penny still brownish then you buff it out...

I have a work around so have been hand finishing little bits at a time.

That is so much detailed work in all the tiny wire wrapping. Just wow. :bow

Litte Burd finally has a buddy!Chick #2 hatched without incident at 10:45 PM last night. I put it over with Burd this morning at 5AM. She kind of looked at the litte chipmunk like, "What the heck are you and where did you come from?" look of bewilderment on her little face. I went back to bed with her standing there just staring at the new chick. This morning they are cuddled together with their little heads resting on the monkey's legs

Down to one egg left to go. Should start to hatch within the next 24 hours....I hope.
:clap....:thumbsup The waiting is a killer! Hopefully it'll hatch sooner than later.

A couple of the ducks appear to have pipped internally...but I'm still waiting....waiting....waiting....waiting...for anything external. I understand they take their time. I'm hoping I don't lose them. DH is quite excited...:lau

Deb, I think your teacher was full of crappola, LOL.

We just finished up with dinner. Everything came from the garden except for the meat. Green beans, new potatoes, beets. Held the first ears of sweet corn over till tomorrow. Sure makes you feel good.

Ronott1, I think I can safely say that by the time you are old enough to be on the 'old folks home' thread, you've had at least 1 if not more neighbors from H-.I had one many years ago who was into teasing my dogs until they barked at him and then calling animal control about them barking. My dogs were in the yard when Animal Control rolled up and got out. The officer asked me if those were my dogs and I said yes, they were. He just laughed and shook his head, telling me that his own dogs barked louder than mine did when a stranger rolled up. About that time the 'neighbor' came out of his house and got in his car. Being a red head I stepped out in front of his car and pulled out my cell phone dialed 911 and told them if they didn't respond an officer to my address I was going to pull the S. O. U know what out of his car and beat him to a bloody pulp. A squad car pulled up within 2 minutes and when I told him what was going on the cop went up to the neighbor and told him one more complaint about him and he would arrest him and they would press charges if I wouldn't. No chance that I wouldn't LOL. Luckily, a year later I met my future DH and moved out of the city. I remember the cop chuckling and telling me that he thought the guys problem was that I wouldn't go out with him. I just snorted and told him that there was no way I'd ever go out with the guy simply because I don't date outside my species!

We have great neighbors now. Everyone is friendly, helpful and non interfering. The neighbors have cows and horses grazing on their pastures. I aways liked this sign:

Of course I just read one comment about this sign that says most of the aforementioned activities happen in the big cities also so.....
