Its like doing Crochet... while I am learning a weave I wear my reading glasses then put on a second pair of "readers" from the drug store. Once I learn the weave it goes by feel and I can watch TV while doing it.

Nice part about it though is you can just drop the piece and tend to something else without loosing a stitch...

The magnifying lights that jewelers use would be really handy for the work you do on your pieces...but it would require a stationary area of work. You're probably able to move around with your glasses. The illumination would be nice.

An automotive/hardware store in the city brings in cleared out items. One time they had brought in magnifying lights. I'm kicking myself now not getting one...it would've been handy doing intricate nail art. Darn.

Biggest tip for hatching ducklings - they test our patience!!. They don't pip and zip as fast as chickens. Pip to zip of 40+ hours is not uncommon. It's so hard to wait for them!

I prefer flock raiser for ducklings but honestly, i feed whatever, so I'm not the best one to ask about that stuff. Most duck people insist that niacin is major important for their bones, and I'm not knocking it as truth, but I've never supplemented any. Jump on some of the threads in the Duck section for better advise on the raising front.

I'd be happy to help any way i can with any hatch issues though.

My momma duck hatched 4 of 6 yesterday and today. She left the last 2 eggs. One was a quitter, but the other had externally pipped, so i assisted, and have it in the brooder now. Hope she will take it tomorrow. It's got a bit of splay leg, so i hope it gains some strength overnight.

Ron when you do find a place to have roosters make sure they are far enough away that they don't drive you to crazy. lol
My coop is about a 1/4 mile from the house and I did not mind having so many roosters crowing in the mornings most of the time.

As for ducks I am no expert but when I had some hatching I just got a shoe box size plastic tub from the dollar tree and they loved it. They could wash their face and after a couple weeks they could get in the water and it not be too deep for them. When they got bigger I gave them a kiddie pool with blocks to be able to get in and out of the pool.

That's like me...absolutely no duck info either. The year we got the chickens, ducklings showed up here running around. We figure something got the mom. I tried to save them but failed miserably. I've always felt ducks were much better off if I didn't get any. But I'm committed now and I've been reading, You Tubing...you name it. If they hatch, you betcha I will be prepared.

I wear reading glasses and do not need correction for far vision. On my list is getting some type of correction.

I am loving my progressives. I can see to do nail art on my nails again.

That's like me...absolutely no duck info either. The year we got the chickens, ducklings showed up here running around. We figure something got the mom. I tried to save them but failed miserably. I could see the advantage of bi focal glasses for driving. It is getting hard to see the dash without glasses even though I can see fine up the road

I showed my husband the pic from the parade, wickedchicken6. He immediately Said 55 Olds.
I used to be able to do that when i was a kid. Now the cars mostly just look like copies of the same thing. No style.
How do men do that?

I wear reading glasses and do not need correction for far vision. On my list is getting some type of correction.

My mom had one eye near sighted and one far sighted. She got her eyes fixed but she hates it because she lost her close vision and needs glasses to read.

Capricorn Farm - my mom had one near sighted and one far sighted eye. When I went to an eye doctor for free exam - he said I did too. He said I was lucky I wouldn't need reading glasses for quite a while(he was right) and yet with the far eye I could spot a dime across 3 lanes of traffic. Wouldn't leave till I was able to retrieve it.

Finding money is always much better than losing money. I loved to walk and would go quite far. But going alone got boring, so started picking up other things I found.
Have quite a collection of screw drivers, golf balls, snow brush for windshields (never had a car) , pocket knives, flashlight, full rolls of duct tape, police -"Caution tape,".

When I had my cataract surgery, I asked the Dr. if I could keep my eyes the same way, with far & near vision. He said sure. WELL he goofed up, he put the far vision lens in my near eye, and my far sighted eye became my reading eye. After 65 years of seeing a certain way, I had to relearn which eye to use. Post op I told him my near vision was awful etc. that's when he realized he messed up. Oh well....
