The Old Folks Home

Thanks @Peep_Show for the pics. I sure needed to see new life.

I appreciate the support guys. Anyone who has ever loved a dog knows how painful it is. You get through it and that is about all you can do.

That little chick in the first picture sure looks like a silver chipmonk. Did he stay that color once he had fluffed out?

When my Sheltie needed to be put down i had to take the boys along on the trip. She and i had been through so much together, she was my child before i had children. Used to show her in obedience and conformation. Multiple high in trial dog.
After we came out from the vets office, my son said "Why are you crying Mommy? We have lots of other dogs." I told him that she was a very special dog and some day when you have your own dog you will understand.
Shortly after that he did get his own dog. A cute little Shih Tzu. He threw her over the rail off the porch!
Just in case you are wondering, she was fine. I just made the common mistake of getting him a pup too soon. He didn't know he could hurt her. He just thought she wanted to go run in the grass.

Child logic, the shortest route between two given points is over the rail not around it.

Our boy is feeling a little better today. I was walking outside with our Border Collie, turned around and here came Dingo wobbling after her. He had gotten up on his own, got his feet under him and got going. We are wondering if he just didn't get too much exercise over the past three days and was overly tired. They keep telling us that more exercise is better but evidently, not for him. Going to let him choose his own degree of activity for a few days then start taking him for walks again. This time, shorter walks.

Great pictures, Chicka. I love pillars!

Still a chipmunk. BUT the vendor says they will all feather out blue. Isbar influence? I dunno.

My condolences on the dog. It's never easy, no matter what the circumstance. HUGS!

The way I honor the memory of my dogs when they pass is to give another worthy dog a shot at a good home. Each one has been a joy thus far and unique unto themselves. No regrets on having the dogs, just sad when they're gone.
