The Old Folks Home

Well BF wanted to finish it in the pitch dark so we did. Still need to pick up some fill to make the bottom level, but it's got some brick support, for now.

I am glad you added the steps! I was remembering the predator in the dark and type of night clothes worn stories and was worried about what might happen....

I will tell you that the old steps had so much nasty growth on them that they were quite slick, even when dry. When wet, a nightmare. A few years back I went out the door quickly, I think I was throwing food to the chickens. The first step outside was a doozy, and I basically skated a few feet on my right foot, fell backwards and kept going and managed to slam my crotch area into one of the beams holding up the rail.
That was not a good day. If I'd have had a "help I've fallen and took a 4x4 to the crotch at warp speed" button I would have pushed it to get some help.

It is great to keep that from happening again!

OUCH!

There is a new and growing business of making homes safer for aging baby boomers. As we get older we need stuff to hang onto. Sometimes a smaller pitch on steps and rails in the bathroom too.

Fun Times!

Ouch is right. When we bought our homestead the Amish husband had cut steps out of solid oak. They were these huge 14X14 lengths about three feet long each that like your steps had a good coat of moss on them in places and in wet weather they were just greasy slick. Needless to say they were the first things to go.

First rate job on the steps and landing, @superchemicalgirl Ya got yourself a good man!

I am so happy you got that done James actually scrubs the wood with bleach we have a pretty major deck that gets moss from the massive trees we have

I turned over the dirt in the side yard where the chicken coop is. It was work but my fitness band. I was working a way and it vibrated with a message that I had just reached 4X my weakly active minutes goal!

I sprayed litter life on the dirt and covered it with straw. The litter life is amazing! I can smell it going to work as soon as I spray it
