The Old Folks Home

I was watching the news yesterday, I think it was the new station on Satellite TV AON and they had a report about utility workers heading into Maine to help with the repair work because of the heavy damage done by hurricane force winds during a recent severe thunderstorm that rocked the area. DH heard the report and said 'Isn't that member you know on BYC in the middle of that?'

Yep, she sure is. Sorry that unless you've lived through something like that it's hard to truly comprehend the degree of sheer aggravation something like that puts you through. Oh the bright side, it isn't happening in January when the temps are in the cellar and you are relying on electricity for your heating.

Hang in there SCG! Hopefully help is on it's way!

I wandered into town and bought groceries this morning and pine bedding. Time to clean one of the coops again and lay down extra in the other two. Got held up for almost a half hour by one of the employees, a young woman in her 30s, who asked me for some 'motherly' advice. What is it about me that screams motherly? I'm barely 5-2. I do not dress my age, act my age or look my age. I'm forever wearing jeans like most country girls around here. I wear my hair super short and 'punk' spiky. What about that look screams motherly?:he Maybe I need to tip some of my hair in 'purple' spikes? Maybe I need to start walking all bent over with a walker.....no wait, then I'd just be grandmotherly. :old

Guess it's time to start shopping in closest 'big' city where not too many people know me.:smack

SCG..praying power will be on SOON. I remember a couple years ago 5 days of no power. Water and cooking and washing hands the primary issues.

Monday we were without power for about 12 hours. Used son's propane cook stove to hea t up pan of soup. Bought bottles water before store ran out. Extras will go into storage... until youngest son uses them up for spring soccer.

:hugs

chicka, I have better luck with "Bugstop," Walmart and I think Home Depot carry it. Out here though, it's pretty much tucked away for next spring. We get too cold, snowy, or icy, for them to be around.

Yellow Jackets mob people at parking lots trying to get in the cars with them, when we get colder temps. I hate them!! In the house, I just spray them well with Spic N'Span
cleaner from Dollar Tree. First blast knocks them down then I stomp on them. Go through alot of bottles. Also works on spiders, crickets, centipedes , silverfish etc.

I will have to get some Diva Thanks!
They are still swarming today! I did kill all the ones that got in the house yesterday.
But every year we go through this! I hate them!

Ron we have the red lady bugs and the new asian orange ones that bite!
They hurt!

Did you have to make a new member name? One of the Administrators might be able to get it back for you
