The Old Folks Home

Lovely view. I thought for a split second that the kids were on a terrapin...

Also got some more flannel pillowcases done this morning. I still have probably 2 more sets to go (my sister seriously needs to stop having kids) and 7 more after that if I decide to make some for my techs at work. Not sure, yet. I know the family appreciates them because they ask for them, not sure about everyone else/strangers.

I will share one of them that I finished up this morning, I got lucky and found pink flamingo fabric in the clearance flannel section for $2 a yard.

Onward to work on my outhouses.

It's really dreary here, looks dusk-like... really dark out and really rainy. We're supposed to get wind starting at noon - here's hoping we keep power.
They are sitting on the well head cover fake rock and some real rocks from around our property. I see why you'd think that!

I was cold, dreary, rainy here yesterday. There were big wet flakes of snow mixed in but it melted when it hit the ground. The flock looked out and decided they would stick around the coop.
Today is suppose to be sunny but colder. We are now is the "once in a while the high temp will bounce up above 40F but average daily temp is in the 30sF and lows in the 20s" weather pattern. 121 days to Spring!

Sister-in-law does Thanksgiving each year and we do Christmas. My DH only has his sister and her family and she lives less than an hour away. My family is scattered all over the U.S. so our tradition has been to spend Thanksgiving with his family. It is always a good time.

Morning all.

@superchemicalgirl, I think it's wonderful that you are making gifts for your family and techs. I wish more people did that. You are putting a bit of yourself into the gift and that is something that if they are smart people, they will hang on to as long as possible.

Last month I had bought material to reupholster a chair we have in the living room. I got the chair almost finished (having a hard time finding the right sized staples for the seat cushion attachment) and had quite a bit of material left over so I decided to make a quilted cover for the leather sofa seat to keep the animal claws from damaging it. I usually just keep cheap throws on it that I can wash with ease but thought it would be nice to have one that matched the chair.

The sofa is small so the leftover material was just the right size. I spent yesterday evening laying out the basket weave pattern I'm going to use on it and sank my needle in it for the first stitches last night.

When I was at the Amish general store that is close to us on Friday I spent some time looking at embroidered quilt squares that they had. I enjoy embroidery and the price for 6 stamped squares was only 6.95 so I may cave and buy two packages (king sized bed) as a winter project along with my sofa protector and darn, just remembered. I have a sweat shirt material quilt that I've been working on for close to 8 years just trying to get the top put together. Talk about having the attention span of a gnat......

I sorted out and am still sorting out worn sweatshirts and cutting squares out of it for a winter quilt. Since I'm dealing with stretchy material I think I'm going to tie this one when the time comes.

I keep accumulating projects for the winter. Maybe some inner instinct is telling me it's going to be a long snowy one once it hits.

Set an alarm!
We have one, it's called a smoke alarm, it goes off, honey dinners done!:lau
Pretty funny, youngest had a physical before kindergarten. Routine questions one was what do you do if a smoke/fire alarm goes off in your house? He says 'we wave it' Wave it? 'Yeah, wave it and makes a fast waving hand motion up in the air

Most years, Dh works on Thanksgiving, so I usually go to a friend's house, or at least one of my kids will bring me a plate of food from wherever they've eaten their Thanksgiving. It's a treat for me to be able to do a Thanksgiving dinner, and have family come to enjoy it.
It is great that you get to host!

First day of rifle deer/bear season yesterday. I'm still recouping from a week of 12hr night shifts, two more weeks to go. Have tomorrow off, it's one of our holidays, 'Deer day' holiday :D season used to start Mondays now is Saturday but we still observe the Monday holiday.
Split pea and ham soup in the crock pot. DD#2 asked if I could make it without peas....lol.

Very nice SCG, you really do beautiful work. My daughter is flying in Monday night from Maine to spend 10 days here. I'll make a full blown meal for us and we'll eat to a comatose state for 3 days. Turkey, stuffing (home made from scratch), gravy from drippings, mashed garlic potatoes, green bean casserole, mashed butternut squash, candied yams, cranberry sauce, dinner rolls, and I'm sure I'm forgetting something... For dessert, apple pie, blueberry pie, pumpkin pie and chocolate pudding pie. Whipped cream or vanilla ice cream also available for ala mode' :drool View attachment 1190360
Yep, neither of you will move for a LONG time, the animals may not appreciate their fast!
How is your favorite oldest daughter?

MRI results are in.... Fibroids and a mass that looks like cancer limited to the uterus.... everything else looks fine...

So looks like I get the biopsy to confirm... and wether or not its cancer I suspect they will do a hysterectomy.... am ok with all that... just hated waiting for some sort of diagnoses...
:hugs Good to finally get an answer. I expect the insurance company will come through pretty quick now that it is locked down.

My 22 Y/O daughter would probably like it that way as well. The only soup she will eat is New England Clam Chowder. But she does like ham.
