All this cold talk has created a craving for a big mug of hot chocolate... or a hot buttered rum. Good weather for naps under some warm quilts. Stay warm and cozy, folks!

I read this as I am at work wearing shorts. I did bring a water proof coat today because we had light rain. First rain since November so I am very happy to see it!I find it chuckleatious that we are getting 'normal' winter weather and everyone on the news media is panicking. Mind you I said 'News Media'. Nothing like getting the public all fired up and panicked.
"Bomb Cyclone?" Never heard of such a term in all my almost 65 years on this earth.
We have a friend in Pennsylvania who emailed us this morning when my husband wrote him and asked him about the blizzard that is heading his way. His response was A foot of snow and high winds in the northeast during January, OMG! Imagine that! He said that everyone runs out and strips the stores of Milk, Bread and Toilet Paper. And added that he has lived in the northeast most of his adult life and never once did a blizzard cause him to ummmmmm 'relieve himself' more than it did during any other weather event.....unless it was from eating all the bread and drinking all the milk.
I just told my husband that all the news feeds, on line on tv and radio are vying for ratings so they mix fact with entertainment and then spoon feed it to their audiences in order to get higher ratings.
My best advice is attention to whatever weather.gov is telling you and use good sense. That is what we do. Winter is always why we keep two weeks worth of perishable food in the freezer and an extra months worth of RX drugs on hand along with a good supply of pet food and chicken feed. What really scares me is that everyone is used to milder winters the last few years so nobody is prepared. @Alaskan can probably attest to the fact that if they aren't prepared for whatever winter throws at them up in Alaska they are SOL. They are prepared no matter what winter is doing at the moment because they don't know what tomorrow may bring weather wise but they can guarantee that it isn't going to be sunny and warm with a high of 72 in January.
Stay safe and warm everyone and oh......stock up on TP!
I know!Toilet paper would have great barter value if the grid went down and the petrol ran out!
True, this quantity of snow isn't exactly unexpected in the Northeast and nothing that can't be dealt with if people use their brains ... like stay off the roads today, let the road crews do their job and the roads will be clear again tomorrow. His response was A foot of snow and high winds in the northeast during January, OMG! Imagine that!
So much safer (and more entertaining) than politics
(aka "my storm's bigger than your storm" or the more popular "my polar vortex is lower than your polar vortex")

It is hard for me to imagine how hard winter can be in some places. It is similar to what happens in the summer though. Apparently people vacation in Death Valley to see what it feels like to be in heat over 120F. Makes no sense to me
I do need to go to Costco and get some Toilet Paper
