Another of my pullets died today. That makes 7 out of 12 of my Speckled Sussex.

There is one more looking off. One is actually laying. I was surprised since they were mid August chicks.

Kinda feels like being back up in New England again... Got some firewood stacked today (while it was in the 60s before the rain, wind & cold arrived) for this cold spell and the wood stove is fired up. Sitting in my recliner is so warm it's like an invitation to nap

Sitting at the computer in the back bedroom and it's quite comfy back here. The heat has been turned off since I fired up the wood stove. It's 38 outside right now, blowing, and wetness is falling in various configurations.

So sorry about your losses Cap... Sucks and I feel for you.

Love the sound of loons calling in the evening/night SCG.

Forecast has me getting 3-4" of potential snow, on top of sleet/ice... I feel for ya Chicka! Stay safe and off the roads if you can.

Bruce, just remember, you "chose" VT... You can always divorce and move to a warmer climate... Of course we've been saying that to Al for seems like forever, and he/she refuses the opportunity, despite being from central TX...

Yup, yup, Diva, I hear ya on that. It's 2:30am here, temp is 22, wind chill of 9 expected low of 10. High tomorrow has been adjusted to maybe hit 33, then back down to 15 tomorrow night. We still have snow squalls moving through. maybe an inch on the ground right now. Time for me to check the wood stove then call it a night.

I dunno @Latestarter, if it is going to be cold, I prefer it stay there. Bouncing back and forth over the freezing point daily makes a big mucky mess!
