There are already people wanting to either buy it from him or trade him for a more modern transceiver. Don't know if he will or not as this is his baby.
Seems like if the S hits the fan, one would prefer to have one they can fix. Of course GUESSING which parts may need replacing X years down the road so you have spare parts might be hard.

Thanks Perchie! DH says thanks also and he will let you know . At the moment he has been finding capacitors and the like on Ebay. Amazing that they are still around.

Yes, the R390A is one hundred percent vacuum tubes. Completely old school. He thinks there is 26 tubes in it.. We are amazed how popular they are in the HAM world. He's had it up and running already but needs to replace some capacitors and the like. There are already people wanting to either buy it from him or trade him for a more modern transceiver. They make some of the tubes still because of restoration projects like your hubby.... There are sites on line for em. Capacitors will always be made.... Especially for high voltage equipment. Switching and gear like that. Again Give Heath kit a try. They are online still they were bought by Radio Shack and Radio Shack was bought by Tandy...

My dad was an inventor... I spent many hours hanging with him in junk shops looking for Electronics components. So My ennd is just a GoFer... Give me components and I can put it together...

Lower back neck both knees feet .... chest.... fifty years of Horsemanship.... I do well most days I have an abilitiy to "turn it off" if the conditions are right. Arthritis in my knees... Torn cartilage as well. Neck is a case of many many many whiplash incidents... Shoulder and chest are from ligament strains for when I fell and my new way of getting in and out of bed...

Surgery is just about healed... only limitation I have now is carrying things... weight limit is still five pounds. But I can use my abs now without pain... I can turn over in bed YAY.

Is it time for a knee replacement?

Pile it on, Ron! Hopefully, perchie can have a breather.

Peep.... Are you moving? Santa Fe is an awesome place.

deb

No. Investment property, plus use as a weekender until we can find a long-term renter in there. We enjoy Santa Fe -- which is only an hour away from us door-to-door -- but the constraints for our visits up there has been the dogs. Expensive to board them or, if left at home, we have to have shortened forays. The place has a yard, so we'll be a circus car full of people and critters unloading. Luckily we have neighborhood chicken sitters.

Open the doors and put up a sign - FREE!!!!!!!!!!

LOL. Except a lot of the stuff I bought in anticipation of the other place we had bid on that imploded under the inspections, so great furnishings. (It helps when your friend has an estate sale biz and gives you deep discounts.) It turns out now that several of the inspectors are using the video footage of the previous property in their real estate agent education seminars. Oops!

Is it time for a knee replacement?
Probably just orthoscoptic... clean up the torn miniscus... I snapped my ACL in 2003 in my left knee.... They took the replacement ligament from the top of the same knee along with its bony attachments.... then threaded it through the joint and screwed it in place... He said while he was in there he cleaned up some torn cartilage and scraped some arthritis out.

While the right knee has no ACL issues Its had the same wear and tear over the years as my left... so I "Assume" the same conditions apply. My knee cap locks up periodically and I have to firmly move it back in place with my hand... Hurts but hurts less than having it locked.

Funjny thing is when Getting on a horse your left knee is what takes all the twisting and hoisting and turning to get on.... While the right knee and hip do the work of lifting and shifting your balance to get astride... So it got worn out favoring the left.
