The Old Folks Home

Well I haven't looked to see how "old" everyone else is but I'm 42 so I guess I can relate with y'all lol. I have 17 chickens and I feed them half layer pellets( Dumor) and half scratch grain ( Producers Pride) both from Tractor Supply. I've been told I'm an old soul, I find myself wanting to do more and more of the things my grandma did( coffee in a perculator, planting flowers, feeding the birds, sitting in porch swing enjoying a cool breeze).
Welcome. 42 would put you pretty much in the middle of the age range here, though below the median.

I also have 17 chickens (all hens). They don't get near that much scratch grains though, only about an over full 5.5 oz cat food can each evening. They get the same amount of BOSS in the morning and have layer pellets available 24x7. At the moment they are going through about one 57 oz jar of pellets per day. That will go down when spring shows up though that isn't likely for about 1 more month.

So I had 4 baby goats delivered today, 2 sets of twins... 2 boys & 2 girls. 3 more goats due over the coming month or so. I'm expecting my herd of 7 to double. Grilled up a full rack of ribs today. Just finished gnawing down 2 bones while updating and reading here and BYH. I have decided that I REALLY like the white chocolate Kit Kats. Not available here very often. I also really like the robin's eggs (candy coated malted milk balls) that are only available at Easter. I found one lousy bag at wally world over the last several trips and haven't found any more. I also like the yellow sugar coated chickadees and they haven't had them either. :hit

Cute little baby goats!

I bought red velvet kit kats at valentines day. Several people in my Department like them a lot but they do not carry them here except for valentines day.

Amazon to the rescue! https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B076H9S69L/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Welcome kiddo! I'm over 60 too. Don't worry about your age, there are plenty of youngsters on this thread. You'd be surprised how much good information we old timers have, and how much fun we have too, in between our aches, pains, and doctor visits.
We ROCK! And not just in our rocking chairs...

It is snowing again.

Did a little more than 4 miles with the dog today. Takes us about a half an hour per mile, it's slow slogging through deep snow, especially on areas that aren't squished down adequately (nothing like getting your heart rate up quickly by marching through knee deep snow) but also because we have to stop and smell under the snow.

That cattail was delicious.

I miss you, too! I have been sucked into the FB vortex and spend what little time I have online there. Yes, it's true, retirement keeps me busier than working ever did. I don't have a clue how I ever had time to work.

I'm happy to be back among old friends, for a bit!
It is good to see you back!

Maybe join the delete facebook movement?

Always room at the home!

Easy for me, I never joined ;) Oh wait, you can't delete something you never had.
Still, I don't feel like I missed out.
I had an account because there were some facebook only things that were posted here. I also used the messaging part to contact some people that were only selling stuff on facebook. They are not selling via amazon so I do not need to do that.

The account is closed! and has been for a year or so.
