penny, my dad's name was Virgil Ernest. I've always loved his name, but called him dad. My grandmother gave me a wooden doll he had as a child. Carved head, sawdust body. I named the doll Virgileen, as a tribute.

I caught a cold on top of it all. But I am feeling a bit better. I did get most of my garden planted this morning.

Actually , I was given his last name as my middle name.

Well that is just normal, now it turns out we haven't learned a thing about you!!
My middle name is my mother's maiden name. DD1's is DW's maiden name. DD2's is Joy, surname of one side of my mother's father's line. He arrived in Boston in 1634. DW's sister's is her mother's maiden name. FIL doesn't have a middle name. When he was in the service in WWII they couldn't deal with that. Had to have SOMETHING in that field on the form. As far as the service was concerned, his middle name was "None".
