I just got the alert about the kiddie pool. Been out mowing and riding herd on 5 broodies, now. Everyone who says when you don't want broodies you will have them coming out of your ears is 100% correct. Plus they keep switching nests and eggs with one another.

I was going to suggest Dawn dish soap also but see it was already suggested. I think any detergent grade soap will clean it. You may have some lingering odor but I'd leave it out in the sun to dissipate that.

Everyone complaining about broodies, just get Polish. They are never broody! Even my SS are not into that. But not a year old yet.

I never had a 'hound' dog until we got our buck, half Walker Coon half we think border collie. He looks like he was put together by a committee. Long floppy ears, hound feet, face, legs and body with more personality and energy than any one animal should be blessed with. Only his coloring gives any indication of him being mix breed. I'd have another hound in a minute.

Cap, I'd gladly ship you at least three of these knotheads. I've got enough to go around, lol.
Back to 4. One gave up. YAY! Two had switched nests. I had given each hen 3 eggs. One hen now had six eggs under her. One had none. The other two still had their three. Two are sharing a nesting box. One who was in a lower nesting box is now in an upper and the one playing musical nests. This is my first 'gang' broody session. It's really frustrating in a totally funny sort of way.

Micro maybe you need to shut them into their nest boxes (prison cells) and keep them there for 21 days or so. Letting them out only one at a time to take care of chicken necessities like eating, drinking and pooping.
