The Old Folks Home

Thanks everybody. Like I said, I did this project for fun. In fact I'm reminded that I need to do some touch up painting on it this year and take a finished pick since I can't find the original.

It really isn't hard to do. I worked out the final sketch of what I wanted and DH scanned it into the computer, then measured the little shed and worked the scanned sketch to scale. From then on, all he had to do was print it to scale. We put it together like a jigsaw puzzle, and cut out the major sections. After measuring the shed, we located the pieces where we wanted them, I went to work with a carpenter's pencil, outlined everything I could then went to work. The paint I used is custom mixed at Home Depot. You can get 1 pint containers of paint there. They call it sample paint, but I had them custom mix the colors for me. From then on I just had to paint paint paint and paint some more.

I'd love to do a mural on the roof of our barn. Maybe just the farm name visible from the air and from the road.

We just had the life flight helicopter roar over along with sirens nearby. We NEVER hear sirens here. In fact we have only seen the sheriff dept go by on patrol once in 10 years. So somebody is either dead, badly injured or had a medical crisis. We didn't hear the copter come back this way as Kirksville has the only regional trauma center unless they flew to Columbia. Whatever happened I told DH that somebody's life was changed forever.

I hope there remains a life Micro... Many times, especially in rural areas, even life flight is too late.

Congrats on 40 years Cap and may you have 40 more!

That's a beautiful pic of your roo Notafarm.

SCG, I'm glad you have something to fight the demons with. Love the embroidery in the spare bathroom. I'm sure it will entice those using the facilities to enjoy doing just that!

For those expressing their talents for nothing more than pleasure and specifically NOT for money, KUDOS to you! and I completely understand the anxiety doing something for money would entail. I think most would rather keep things they enjoy doing, enjoyable, rather than turning them into a "job" that you "have" to do, and to someone else's standards.

Micro, the mural is beautiful. I don't think the powers that be are gonna sue you for copyright infringement or anything

I have a talent that I've worked on for many years. Nobody has ever offered me money in exchange for what I do. Were someone to offer, I would absolutely accept without a 2nd thought. I'd have no increased stress over it and am pretty sure I would perform the same as I always do.

I have years of experience filling out and holding down recliners. Anyone interested is welcome to start paying me to do so. ;) :smack
