Don't go pee tonight, oy, she's gonna get you for drowning her..Ok, spiders. I am not making this up. Went to get ready for bed...bathroom...big black spider in the tub. I'm thinking, are you kidding me? I get some t. p. ...bravely plop the tissue on top of it, grab it and put it in the toilet. Flush. Just as I'm remembering how Diva warned me not to flush a slider or else .. I kid you not, that t.p. did ..not...flush down all the way! No way! I promptly flushed again. Then again to be on the safe side. Oh brother. Now I'll have the nightmares!
Those are very pretty, love the color pattern..This is probably the biggest spider I've seen so far in Missouri. The golden orb garden spider. These guys appear in August in high grass or weeds. I've walked into several webs and been almost face to face with one of the spiders. They are huge. Not as big as a tarantula which are in southern Missouri, but we've seen spiders with thoraxes that are the size of nickels.

I broke my two year record and pulled two ticks off of me yesterday.10 days worth of antibiotics ahead of me now and hope I don't have a reaction to the bite. Doctor thought I could be sensitive to tick bites now and react badly to them since I was treated for Lyme....twice....They were only on me for 8 hours so hopefully I'll be okay
.
Yep Bigger the tank the easier it is to care for... My last plecostomus was about eight inches long and about ten years old... I used to tie zucchini to a rock and sink it for him... And they all loved spinach as well as nibbled on the zucchini. I was also into the odball fish over the years had Geophagus Jurapari, Upside down Cat, Banjo Cat... Bumble Bee cat... First one of those I had to catch I wound up having to cut the net off him.... LOL... after that I just shooed em into a container then tripple bagged him up to go.That is so cool Deb.. I breed angelfish, severums, bristle nose plecos-albino and black, and both in long finned and short finned variety, some rare coridoras catfish that you can't find in pet shops; but I've breed a bunch more.. I've been keeping fish since I was 5 yrs old, except for my time in the Marine Corps.. I also work with a few fish farms where I get fish whole sale.. Right now I'm down to seven fish tanks from 17.. Since I've been working with the fish farms it's been easier for me; I don't have to breed as many, they do it for me, and whole sale price is very low.. I'm not going to say what percentage I make on the sale, but it's pretty good when I do make a few sales in one week.. I have cut down on breeding out of the house a good chunk..
Set up a fish tank Deb, I'll ship the fish to you, a gift, k? I'm on a mission to advance the hobby.. Technology has advance so much that fish tank maintenance is a breeze, I do all my maintenance on Saturday mornings and do my filter's cleaning on Tuesday/Wednesday.. I want to dispel that myth that "It's just too much work"..
Fish tanks/watching fish is good for depression, high BP, relaxing in general.. I've heard of a little girl that had a problem with constipation, the parents put a fish tank right in front of the toilet, where she can see it while sitting in the commode, problem solved!! That's the short version of that story.. Keep in contact, lets get you some fish..![]()
That's so cool.. I used to collect tarantulas, and the jumping spider looks like the mini-me of tarantulas, I get a kick out of watching them.. Unfortunately what I have here are black widows and brown recluse; pea size, but I rather give them space, lmao..
MY ABSOLUTE Favorite jumping spider picture.... so cute and huggable but the size of the head of an eraser....Good night all............View attachment 1431683
It originally was developed for people with Epilepsy back in the 20s... its been around a looong time. they are recommending it with various tweaks for Dimensia, Arthritis, Lupus, Cancer, Epilepsy, Cardiatric, and of course Obesity.Daughter had been doing this for a while now. She's thin all right. She went on it to help with what the Drs are...guessing. lupus. She does say, that it keeps the pain away on her joints when she is being good on it.

I still have the 110 and want to finally get it into the house and setup properly.... I am so ancient I prefer an under gravel filter.... Fortunately a sixty plate filter fits the 110. Not a practical tank for sure Not enough square inches on the surface for good oxygen exchange... So I also set up a canister filter below and ran that. Never checked PH or scrubbed or cleaned... That tank stayed crystal clear.... Except initially with the Bio Bloom and the sacrificial fish.
With the angels I did do a one quarter water exchange about once every month but that was it.... Outside of cleaning the external filters. That was about it...
I want to do Tilapia when I get it set up again.... No substrate only breeding containers... I will also need to set a tank up for growing baby food too. I want to do aquaponics as well. Surprisingly outside of the few veggies I feel will do well I want to raise some semi aquatic plants that are edible. Water chestnuts, Cattail, Water cress, ... still researching But I will also do the usual... Beans, Tomatoes, Black Eyed peas, English peas, still researching those as well.
Once I get my water totes setup for raising tilapia, I would love to set the 110 up for pure enjoyment.
Never Id bite back.... I have broken biorythm or something... so I am like Diva I take naps.... I am up late usually. Thanks for chatting with me Deb.. Have a good night, we'll do it again tomorrow, k? Sweet dreams and don't let the bed bugs bite..![]()
Here when horse back riding in the areas where there is grass.... wild oats,etc...... If you stop and un-focus your eyes you can see a black dot for every twenty square feet... Tarantulas... each one sayin.... "Hey baby come to my pad...." LOL.
LMAO, that's funny what they did to you, sorry for laughing, lolWe only have Black Widows and If you leave your shoes outside give em a whack before putting them on.... They go for the shade....
Then there are the Wind Scorpion or Camel spiders.... Crazy Ugly... I was about twenty one or two and I was working in a machine ship running the reamer on some hinge nodes... lunch bell and I tossed my gloves on the chair... I was the only female working there and much a curiosity to all.
I came back to work Put my gloves on and didn't notice that every one was watching me... I felt a chip in the glove and pulled my hand out to toss it and found one of these chewing on my finger tip.

They have four opposing jaws which were firmly attached to my finger and giving it a good chew. I flicked my hand to get it off... then hunkered down to see what it was...
I guess the guys were surprised I didn't go running screaming and going hysterical.... they didn't know me too well LOL ... I had lots of experience catching odd critters and giving them a look see... even keeping them for a time before turning them back loose. Afterwards I checked my gloves and gave a good inspection before putting them on.
Yep indigenous... and Not related to scorpions... or spiders. non venomous. They are in a family of their own.

Jaws to chew food
Its ugly Yes but has a place in ecology.
