I know they have gotten smarter mine keeps telling must turn location on but really
do not care for it saying will you rate this place or pinpoint where you are that makes me cringe

All this talk about breads... the good and how bad the store bought stuff has become. I remember sitting down in open air cafe's overseas and having bread and butter or cheeses with wine. Man was that good.

The best I ever experienced was Portuguese bread, freshly baked, right out of the oven with fresh real butter. This was while I was deployed to the island of Terciera in the Azores. The little sea side town outside the base main gate was about a 1.5 mile walk and we'd walk to town and eat there and drink wine. Fond memories and I've never found or had a bread to compare. It had a very solid/hard crust but was light and airy inside and had such a marvelous texture. You'd rip off chunks and then slather it with butter... man...

funny how you can assocaite memories from smells and sounds... No matter where you are bread making is special.... Yeasts are special and you can identify a region according to the yeasts found in the air


So.... You HAVE to go back to Portugal.... no question

I served on an aircraft carrier for 2 1/2 yrs, USS America..

My son just got a job on the Midway. Its a museum here. only a month there and he is quickly absorobing the terminology.... and learning how to navigate the museum... Most of the carrier is still there so some areas are polished up and safety rigged for tourists but there are a few places he was warned not to go with out a partner.... I was fascinated to find out it was the last Diesel.....

I have killer ducks.

They killed, disemboweled and then ate the innards of a rat while I was at work today. I do have pictures but

yummers! You could hire them out as eco-friendly rodent control! Right on!

I used to have a peppered Rye batter bread that you made in the mixer and baked in a bowl. I unfortunately lost the recipe years ago, and I've never been able to find another one. It was so quick and easy, and delicious too.
