The Old Folks Home

You must be very proud of him @Alaskan

Yep. Busting my buttons over him. He did great at the conference. He kept wandering around looking for people to help... he would carry boxes, carry luggage, and then play with babies.

Al it's good to see you.
Congrats to you son.

Thanks.

Thans Diva.

@Alaskan
AL,
It is good to have you back. Take your time getting back up to speed. Your loss deserves the time necessary to grieve. We're here whenever you feel like you want to talk. :hugs
It looks like the cemetery is in the central Texas wide open spaces. What a beautiful resting place for your Dad.
I know you are very proud of your sons. You should be. You and spouse are doing a great job raising them.

The cemetery is part of Holy Archangels Monastery. It is in the west part of the hill country area. Near Kendalia, if you know where that is.

AL!!! Welcome back, even if it isn't back back. Thank you for sharing the lovely pictures and story of your son.

Thanks, good to see you too. Sorry your turkey is still trying to take chunks out of you.

@Alaskan. Thank you so much for sharing those pictures with us. You must be so proud of your boys and the inside of your church is beautiful. I've always been partial to church architecture and interested in other people's faiths. Thank you again, and deepest condolences on the loss of your beloved father. Mine passed in 06 and I miss him to this day.

That is actually the church I got married in. Many years back...

It is an interesting church. For windows they used thin marble sheets. So the light makes the swirls and such in the marble stand out. No photo of that to show you.... never seen that anywhere else.... very different. .. but nice.

My deepest condolences once again how proud you must be I was really touched by all this over whelming experience.Im just so sorry prayers and blessings for you and yours:hugs

Thank you.

Al, beautiful pictures! So wonderful that your sons could be in the service. And truly sorry for your loss. Hugs. We are here whenever you feel like talking. You are missed.

Thanks, and yes, the boys were so good at the services. Sure is nice to have them such helpful and manageable ages.

Thanks for sharing the pics Al. Beautiful. Again, condolences on your loss. Looks like he had a beautiful parting service and though he's in a better place, his remains look to be in another beautiful setting. Congrats to you and to your son for his vestment. I'm sure you are very proud of him as well as all the other boys. It does appear that it was a pretty big deal. It's a huge step for him.

You know that we're all here for you when you need us and are ready. Each takes their own time to grieve and heal. The last few years have been particularly rough for you (& your family) and I'm sure there's much to reconcile. It all takes time. Best wishes and will look forward to (ETA: and hope for) your eventual return.

Thanks. And yes to all you said!

It just about made me bawl to see my son become sub-deacon... without having my dad at my side.

And all of the issues I had with my dad when he was spiraling downwards with his illness. .... gotta say seeing so many people crying over the fact that he was gone, and having so many people tell me how much they loved him and would miss him... was very healing. It helped reset him in my mind... as the man he was before all of the illness crap.

Whow! Never heard of marble being used used in place of stained glass before. It must be really spectacular to see when the sun is shining in or the light at night is shining out.

Don't doubt for a minute that your dad wasn't there with you in spirit. :hugs to you and your family.

It is hard to remember the past when the current isn't going so well.

Rest up, recovery is slow.

@CapricornFarm, I was trying to catch up a bit and saw that you are in the middle of a turkey coop build?

Maybe you could get SGC to send you her broody turkey hen? You know, as a coop warming gift..........
With friends like you, who needs enemies??

I'm probably pushing my luck, especially in light of the pony demand, LOL.
"Demand"? Heck no, you didn't demand the pony, you put it out as a barter item. You study and pass the test, DH gets you a Pony. Regular business deal.
Turkey chicks it is! What is he going to want in return?

Bwhaahahahaah.... better order up some chain mail....

I wouldn't know, but it would be good to know.. I am now also in the Veterans Choice program, I pick a dr or clinic near me and the VA will approve them.. Then I'd go there and the VA picks up the bill.. However, this is something I've used once.. I drive to the VA hospital in Tampa..
This would be a good time to get your EPI pen,....
