The Old Folks Home

Well there are incentives, extra privileges on the bandwidths, the prestige but there are just so many other things that I want to do. Getting my General was my goal and I've reached that goal. It was hard work but by golly I did it!

Now Bruce, There are a lot of great Mahindra tractors out there just begging for you to take them home with you! We found ours on the lot of farm implement business where it had been used as a trade in. Go out there and make one your own.

I was out in the coop tonight, crouched down to take care of the 5 week olds in their grow out pen when one of my hens jumped down from the roost with two roosters hot on her tail. She ran behind me and dove under my butt where she hunkered down. The two roosters were joined by a third and they threw on the brakes about 8 inches in front of me, looked at the hen, looked at me, looked at the hen. One of them took a tentative step forward, I wagged a finger at them and told them to really think about what they were about to do. They must have understood me because they retreated....fast.

Dumb birds in deed.

By incentive, I meant another animal :D

I'm starting to think you are not going to gift me your Mahindra ;)

I'll try to take a picture of the tree situation Cap. May not be tomorrow, it is supposed to rain :celebrate
Hubby is really good at that stuff. I can get him to look at it.

About the tree.

You have three potential angles that you can drop it. Either to the right of the apple to the left of the apple or behind the apple. Pick your best direction, make sure you have a clear area to drop the tree, make sure you have an escape route. What we have done is notch the tree deeply in the direction we want it to fall, then this is where the tractor comes in, we use tow ropes and heavy chains, one end attached to the tree the other to the tractor and we apply tension to the tethers. Only then do we make the final cut. The tree usually falls in the desired direction.

Without a tractor you can use a come along or a wench. with extended tethers. You have to make sure you have enough lee way so the tree doesn't drop on you. Safety first always. If in doubt hire it done.
