The Old Folks Home

Thus they are at the end of their life and the lifetime warranty has expired ;)

Hot and drought here too. Have to water the garden every 2-3 days. Pond is going dry, it is filled by rainfall only.

Called the Apple affiliate store today since when I dropped the computer off Monday morning the guy said they would call with status in 48 hours. Nada. The guy I talked to today said the screen is bad and they have ordered a new one. I asked why they didn't call yesterday. "We only call on machines that aren't covered by warranty". :he:he The guy who took it in KNEW it was under warranty, why did he say they would call in 48 hours? Now I wait until they call to say it is fixed, he didn't give me a timeframe so I don't know when I'll get it back :tongue

I ran into stuff like that here at the campus apple repair. I thought it was because it was student run LOL

Outside city limits here, no restrictions on basically anything... I could put a well in and would probably have decent water... Already have a septic tank and leach field. Can't justify the price though. Water here isn't that expensive. Of course that may change over time.
Last months water\sewer bill was $155.00. I have one of the lower bills. Some are $300 and up

Same here bruce. Our pond is about two foot down right now. Only rain and runoff fed. My squash are sustaining themselves by their runner roots although I have some truly mammoth sized Warty Red Thing Squash....@capricornfarm. I mean, these things are massive and almost ready to pick. I just read that the 'redder' they get the better the flesh and there are two that are a brilliant orange red. I have a few field pumpkins developing but my white pumpkins are hiding. Probably on runners that invaded the field.

Our grass is crunchy under foot. On the bright side...not having to mow. Kinda weird that the only green patches are where I sling my bucket of dirty water after I dump and refill the chook's waterers.

DH and I took a walk in the timber yesterday and the underbrush is really looking bad on top of the ridges. I'm beginning to wonder when they are going to put out red flag warnings for our area.

We have no building codes here either. No HOAs.....like, ask the Amish if they know what an HOA is and watch their reaction. Wanna build something? Build it. Just make sure that if you don't want to pay personal property tax on a building, you put it on skids cause if you put it on a slab or basement, you gonna get bled by the revenuers. Drive a new car? Ditto. Own a lot of toys with big wheels, yep. I have to declare my chickens....yes, I use chicken math. Two bantams equal 1 standard size, chicks don't count, roosters don't count.....always glad that the birds are inside when the assessor drives by. Luckily I think we paid 3 dollars on 50 declared birds last year so Macon County isn't making a lot of money on my flock.

Take care everyone:hugs

You have to pay personal property tax on your "livestock"? :thThat is pure stupidity.

Well Bruce if it works fine when you get it back and there is no charge, I would be :bow
Apple machines are $$$, they shouldn't break. It damn well better work and there won't be any :bow if it does. If it doesn't there will be :smack

DD1's 13" had an issue about a year ago. I think it is a 2011 or 2012 machine. It was making noise. She took it in, paid $60 for them to diagnose and fix. The only moving part in the thing is the fan. They presumably cleaned it. Noise was back almost immediately, no surprise, sounded like bearings. She fixed it with a new fan ($10 on eBay) herself. Not impressed with the "service" people.

Her machine is hitting end of life and she will be getting a Windows machine. Apple keeps removing hardware and raising the price. Can't buy a laptop with an optical drive (my 2013 didn't have one, we used the one in her computer to load things on an external drive until her OD died. I had to buy an external OD.). The latest version doesn't have a built in card reader so I got the old (2015) design. I use the card reader for my camera. I could connect the camera but that is less convenient and I don't know that the trail cam has that ability anyway. I really don't care squat if the buttons on the top row are real buttons or the "fancy" new "touch pad" buttons and no desire to pay even more $$ for the newest design. So you pay lots of $$ and then have to buy external hardware. Might be my last Apple computer as well which means going to effing Windows sometime in the future. I  Windows, I suffered with it for years at work.
