My mamma didn't raise no quitter. Plus I have my German, Irish, Cherokee blood to fall back on. Stubborn as a Missouri mule!
In my experience a little bit of 'German' goes a long ways.

Me too, Ron.
I told DH this morning that at this particular moment, outside of having a group of BO hens that are thinner than I would like, I don't have any birds showing active Marek's disease. I knew I was going to loose the rooster with the tumors. He was a walking skeleton, scarfing down food until the tumors made it almost impossible for him to swallow.
My plan right now is still to add Egyptian Fayoumi's next spring. We have a friend who orders from M-McM hatchery. They sell sexed Fayoumi's. I'm hoping I can add birds to his next order and split shipping charges with him.
I just told DH that I am to the point with Marek's disease that I'm looking at it as being a challenge.
It will not beat me! I will beat it.
I am lucky I guess (Never thought that before). My parents died when I was 15, my husband when I was 59. My siblings are all gone except one who has been on dialysis for 10 years. I have no children. I assigned a favorite cousin to be my POA and made a will. I own my house, so I got a reverse mortgage. When I go, all my assets get split evenly between named people. IF they go before me, more for the rest. I gave a notarized copy to my POA and have one in my file cabinet. I also have told them all, figure out what you want of the furniture, pictures and keepsakes. If you want it before I die, you better tell me now. Easy peasy, no muss, no fuss (at least not for me).Yeah, don't make just another 3 weeks!!! Maybe another 50 years
I hope the POA is "clean and detailed". I don't even know exactly what that would mean but there is someone on BYH involved with someone who's POA (DIL) basically stole her money and apparently there is nothing that can be done due to the way the POA was written. Instead of paying the mortgage, the money went elsewhere so now an elderly disabled woman is losing her home. Makes me, I would be happy to assist this person to have an "accident". She SHOULD be in jail for embezzlement and elder abuse.

Never had a DNA test, may get that done. My mother was Scottish / Irish, my father full blood Italian. Soooo... I have Italian emotionalism, Scottish stubbornness and an Irish temper. I am fair complected. My hair was red as a child, but darkened to light brown as I aged. I still have red streaks in it. I have green eyes. My brother is olive complected with black hair and brown eyes. Go figure. In my mothers family reunions, he stands out. In my father's family reunions, I stand out. Oh well.I'm in the same boat. Mine fights with the Scottish attitude but facilitates the stubborn aspect. I was always certain that we probably had some Jewish DNA, but one of those DNA tests indicate that there are some ancestors from the Iberian Peninsula back there. Okay, that explains the skin and hair coloration.

I am close to 99% Northern European. Isn't that where all the wars start?
I wonder if that is my problem too!
( I am just over 1/2 German, 1/8 Irish, 1/4 Lithuanian, and just under 1/8 Brit)
Course... that genetic scramble pretty much makes me full on 100% American Heinz 57.
Yes I do have a great one. My cousins are close like nieces and nephews. My nephews are almost like sons. My friends are great and have been a God send.- BYC friends are also great- don't know what I would do without ya.It is good to have things simplified!
I hope you have a good support system. BYC Helps!
