The Old Folks Home

I surely hope so. We are at home. We are far enough from the ocean and rivers not to be at risk from storm surge or river flooding, so the only real danger here is from things like wind-blown debris and falling trees. Pretty rowdy out there right now. The power keeps flickering. The experts still don't know if the beastly thing is going to run right over us or barely brush past (at 11:00 it was at 34.0 N 76.8 W, and we are 34.2 N 77.8 W), but at a forward speed of 5 mph, it's going to take a heck of a long time to do either one. I have a feeling it's going to be a long night. And day. And maybe another night and day. . . .
Sheesh! I wonder if you are why I have no power.

Did you run out of transformers and come grab mine? :old

I usually get running shoes -I don't run but, they are more comfortable for me than stiff walking shoes- New Balance if I can find them. I have four pairs under the bed that I got years ago when Kohls actually had a great sale. With my luck by the time I get to wear them they won't fit anymore :bun

I have a pair of black rubber boots I got a Wal-Mart, and a pair of sandals that are exclusively used at my coop. I got 3 packages of the foam inserts, cut them to size, and put them in my boots. When the inserts get dirty, I put another pair in, and wash the dirty ones. That makes them more comfortable, and I can keep the inside clean.
