The Old Folks Home

Canned a lot (halves, jams and sauces), gave away a lot (friends, neighbors, senior center), and -- recently bought a freezer -- froze a lot of them all pitted and smushed for smoothies. Seriously, in dealing with offing them, peaches became the new zucchini.
that was very nice of you!

Well I just filled the hummingbird feeders and suddenly they are all gone. Vanished, *poof*. Up to 25 or more at a time fighting over the feeders to suddenly zero.

Wish the little turds would give us a warning before they head south. I hate wasting sugar.

So the Robins are gone, the Jenny Wrens are gone and except for a few stragglers, the Hummers are gone till next spring. That means....winter is around the corner :hit
I saw a Robin here yesterday.

Well, power's gone off - probably ought to try to save my battery
:fl
I usually get running shoes -I don't run but, they are more comfortable for me than stiff walking shoes- New Balance if I can find them. I have four pairs under the bed that I got years ago when Kohls actually had a great sale. With my luck by the time I get to wear them they won't fit anymore :bun
I normally don't wear sneakers, DW insisted I had to have a pair the first time we went down to FL on vaca, hadn't worn sneakers since I was a kid. They were a pair of New Balance, made in the USA. Best pair of non-boots I've ever had and very comfortable. Been yrs, they ended up separating the tread/bottom from the shoe, look like brand new still just not wearable. She's got me a couple pair of other cheaper sneakers since, don't like them. Think I'm going to glue those NB back together Lol.
I'm pretty confused on this made in USA thing, I heard NB was going to sell out if our previous President, (not getting political here) signed TPP trade deal, and I saw their shoes are now made in China, Vietnam, wherever? Got a pretty good shock recently school shopping for the kids shoes. Was in a mall shoe outlet store, I do not like clothes/shoe shopping with the girls, usually I abandon them and wander over to the used book store. Wandered around the shoe store to check out the boots and they had Chippewa, Red Wing, dang half the price I've ever seen, always wanted a pair of them but didn't want to spend the $, took the tongues out, made in China
Googled this when we got home, they all, including NB still say made in USA, ... IDK? Maybe their doing both?

I have been dreading the hummers leaving for the season. Miss them when they go.

I don't think they are gone yet, I haven't seen any lately though. Pretty sure they haven't flown south, geese aren't going yet. Hummingbird's are so small they can't fly south by themselves, ride under the wings of geese. I know this is true, my grand-pa said so when I was a kid.

Lol :p

From what I understand lots of companies make 2 lines... less expensive made in China... then better quality made in USA or whatever other more expensive country.

Robins? Are they not common in Cali?
I have a dozen nests in the far side of my garage where they can get in, (dang looking for the pic I had, must've been on my old phone, all the nests and a bunch of little one's with their beaks open waiting to be fed lol )
Had a family of them in our grape vines also. We know it is spring when we see them, even if we get another big snowstorm , poor robins came up too early...lol. They mostly eat worms, can't get many worms with snow on the ground ..
