The Old Folks Home

Nice hair styles there SCG!

Boy were you lucky. And unlucky, another inch farther out and it would have deflected off your glasses. No harm, no pain!

Yeah, don't remind me. What's that old saying? What doesn't kill me makes me stronger?

Most of my glasses are made of trivex material so they all have a 'safety' factor to them as far as hardness is concerned but stuff can still get around them if it is determined enough.

Didn't buy tickets. Won't buy tickets. Would rather have money in pocket. Think I read that the odds were 1 in 303 million to win. True it only takes one winning ticket but frankly those odds sux.

Miserable day for me. Late yesterday afternoon we were clearing away branches that we had trimmed from the bottom of a huge fir tree that is growing by our drive way so we could drive the cars under it and a branch sprang up as I lifted another branch and somehow the three inch long needles got under the bottom of my glasses. One needle got in my eye and felt like it passed between my eyeball and my eyelid. Hurt like sin. First thing I did was check for blood. No blood. That's good. Then made sure I could still see. Check. Went inside and looked in a mirror, groaned and went off in search of Doctor Honey. He got me in the exam chair and checked my eye. Seems as though I speared my eyeball right under the conjunctiva. Luckily the needle didn't 'penetrate' the globe so I was very lucky but man oh man do I have a sore eye.

Just what I needed. So beware of pine needles. Those things are MEAN!

Wear the safety goggles

Yeah, that's the problem with them even with vent holes plus you have to have them made of something that isn't going to scratch easily like treated poly-carbonate. Regular poly-carbonate scratches too easily. The labs put a temporary coating on them to fabricate the 'good' type of safety goggles and lenses but that coating wears off in 6 weeks. The thing about poly is that it will keep your eyes safe. Just make sure that if you buy a pair from a vision care provider that you make sure it has a good scratch coating added to it.
