The Old Folks Home

Going to be a high of 15 on Thanksgiving.
Mr. NOAA says 3° overnight and high of 14° tomorrow back home. Bet DW and DD1 won't enjoy that much, especially since DW has to get DD to the airport for a 6 AM flight. Which neither will enjoy much given on work days DW gets up at 5:20 and most days DD doesn't get up until 9 or 10 at the earliest. Airport is about 45 minutes away.

Got the dog a hat.
Cute! You sure there shouldn't be ear flaps on that? I notice there is a lot of exposure. ;)

lazy pie?
Sounds kinda like pumpkin pudding to me.

Happy day BEFORE Thanksgiving everyone. Ladies, gents too, don't work too hard. I'm doing pumpkin pies this morning. Being lazy this year and bought ready crusts so all I have to do is mix up the filling and pop them in the oven. Decided that I'd cut corners however possible this year with my health problems also. Instant mashed potatoes, etc. I am making home made rolls to go with dinner.

I have a recipe for pumpkin cheese cake that I'm going to try later on. Pumpkin mixed with pudding with a layer of cream cheese mixed with whipped topping under it with a graham cracker crust. Looks intriguing and I love the cheese cake made that way.

SGC all I can do is offer you a hug:hugs Please be careful on that driveway. That's how broken wrists and femurs happen and I would hate like sin to hear that happened to you.

Just finishing breakfast here. 5 little powdered doughnuts, a banana, and a fruit bar. Of course I have my big mug of hot tea as well. Animal chores are all done for the morning, refilled the pullet's 3 gal waterer as well. Started out around 35°, now it's a toasty 40° even. Nice heavy frost on the ground so my feet are chilled and damp. I set the thermostat inside for 68 last night and slept with the ceiling fan going. Best night's sleep I've had in a while. Had to warm it up after morning chores though as I caught a chill. Set to 74 and once attained will turn it back down. Fingers are finally feeling like fingers rather than frozen carrot sticks.

I think my LGD, Mel, isn't feeling well. He wanted inside from the pasture this morning. Elf pesters him endlessly trying to chew on his face, ears, legs, etc. He begged me to let him come back to the back bedroom so he could get some decent rest away from the little terror. He's presently snoring away beside me on the carpeted floor.

Doesn't deal with carbs so I feel safe mentioning... I stuck a St. Louis style rack of ribs in the oven this morning so will be eating ribs later today. Prob wasn't the brightest idea since I have a turkey thawing in the sink for dinner tomorrow. Oh well... it's protein after all.

The cords I've run out to the various coops/barns/houses seem to be possessed. It stopped working during a cold spell last week, messed with it for 30 minutes, it still didn't work, gave up, but when I got up in the morning it was miraculously working again.
It's not working again this morning. We got a bunch of snow last night and I'm off work today cause I worked the weekend so I figured I'd get the blower out and do a nice job. Well the blower wouldn't start. Figured I'd just shovel. I get most of the basic shoveling done, then slip and fall down the driveway and whack myself in the face with the shovel. I get a bloody nose. Now, I also fell down the driveway last night while taking Ripley for a walk so my buttcheeks are a nice purple color and hurt a bit today. Then I decided I was done shoveling, but I should probably put the gas can in the back of my car so when I go out today I can just get gas for when BF gets the blower working. The hatchback didn't go all the way up, and I didn't notice, so I slammed my forehead into it.
That's about how my life goes.

I gotta go get my winter tires on, get some chicken feed, a new non-possessed extension cord, fill the gas can up and then come home and prep my potatoes, a green bean casserole (this time I'll remember to cook the beans first), probably a pumpkin pie (maybe also an apple) and my stuffed squash so tomorrow isn't totally chaotic. Looks like my long arm and I won't see each other today.
I’ve got the bubble wrap on order - should get to you soon. Until it does, maybe wear a few extra layers for padding and get a helmet?

I should definitely wear a helmet, no matter the season.

Gotta go find my crampons and head out in a few to do the night chores.

Got a whole bunch of food prepped and ready to be baked or eaten tomorrow. BFs mom texted to say she was going to make the pumpkin pies instead. I already had the pumpkin thawed so I made pumpkin cheesecakes in muffins. They're delicious! Ask me how I know hahaha

Arg!

I am surprised you kept on going and didn't just give up for the day and go back to bed.

Glad the day got better.
