The Old Folks Home

Bought some young pullets a couple months back. Was on a whim so no coop for them. Laid down a doubled up tarp in the out bldg, put some 4' welded wire fencing around it and threw down some shavings. They've been just fine as can be in there but the bedding had gotten to looking like dirt rather than shavings, and they'd torn through the tarp with their "dust bathing". Two of them are now laying with a 3rd and 4th at POL and very close to starting. No idea for the 5th & final girl...

So today, since it was too wet outside to work on the goat shed, I went and bought some cheap linoleum and pulled the tarp load of crap out and replaced everything. The floor under the tarp was of course wet/but thankfully not moldy or soft/destroyed. They are now on a nice sheet of $0.47/sqft linoleum with fresh shavings. Silly birds didn't want to leave the carrier and I had to dump them out onto the fresh shavings. Just before dusk, my first layer laid an egg for me :)

Anyone have fun weekend plans?

We are likely cutting our tree down today with bfs mom and the rest of that family. They've never cut one down before, always had artificial, whereas I have never not cut one down. They're looking forward to the experience. Hope I don't have to sing carols and act jolly.
We adopted two kittens!

Perseus and Andromeda. They are too shy for pictures though

Congratulations on the first egg, @Latestarter!

@penny1960, yeah, sometimes people don't understand that just getting pain to a point where you can tolerate it is a big win when it comes to pain control. When I tell the doctor that I'm happy with a pain index of 2, they always give me an 'are you nutz' look. Can't remember what it is like to go through a day with 0 pain?
