The Old Folks Home

Congratulations on the first egg, @Latestarter!

@penny1960, yeah, sometimes people don't understand that just getting pain to a point where you can tolerate it is a big win when it comes to pain control. When I tell the doctor that I'm happy with a pain index of 2, they always give me an 'are you nutz' look. Can't remember what it is like to go through a day with 0 pain?
I would be happy to get below 5.

Yeah, Cap. 5 sux. Feet were up to an 8. Steroid injections suck. I hate them. Pain is almost gone down to a 1-2, but the trade off is I can't sleep, feel nervous, can't concentrate. Would almost rather hurt. Poor DH can't say hi to me without me growling at him. Every blessing has it's curse, especially when the curse is steroids. I told DH I hated the pay back and would rather hurt. He told me to tell Rheumy that. I probably will.

Steroids are great short term, but not so hot long term.

If my doc said I need to see a pain clinic doc I'd say GREAT! BOOK ME NOW! Worked for one for two days doing temp work. Was strange going back to my old birth town in central Il to work when we were living in western IL. Great office and doc. Learned a lot in two days watching her work. Very dedicated doctor. She once spent a whole weekend titering out dosages of pain meds for a woman with drug sensitivities and about two degenerative spine conditions that caused her to be in constant pain. She showed me the notebook she had been using. 4 solid pages of calculations front and back. I thumbed through them and could only say WHOW! I asked her where she had been while I was slaving away at the nursing home working second shift charge. It would have been a plum job.

I took Prednisone once. The first few days were awesome! I felt great! I didn't hurt, and I got so much done! I felt like Wonder Woman! I was like, "Who needs sleep, and what else is there to eat?" But as I worked my way off it, it was back to the same old, same old. It didn't even help the problem. But those first few days...

Well, for the first time since August we've had a dry Saturday....as a matter of fact we may have a dry weekend!
I'm getting back to good health the natural way. After my mom's passing I kinda just let myself go. My blood pressure got up to 178 over 97. It's now 143 over 78. I'm taking a lot of supplements.
I've got to lose at least 65 pounds...but I'm aiming for an 81 pound loss.....and no more pork...ever.:hit

Yep, makes you feel great for a bit. But it is not helping my pain much. I think i have more going on than a pinched nerve.
