The Old Folks Home

Dd was telling us how a bit later in the course, she would be viewing slides of things from one of the local veterinary clinics. I had already been thinking about fecals, but when she said that, it sealed the deal. I've already been looking at microscopes, the solutions to mix with the samples, types of slides for egg count, etc.

Just feeling very old Latestarter - had a horrible 2018, and this year is starting out the same. I'm 71 but, really never felt old before. 40 was terrible because "they" said you shouldn't have babies that late. I was 38 when my son was born.

But 50 was a breeze, 60 and 70 ditto. Then all it took was one S- head that I allowed to make me feel like I would turn to dust and blow away. Plus the words of the past president who felt old people should die because they were breathing air that younger people could use.

My best buds that were younger than me died young. But, I'm still here! My problem is I'm much younger on the inside. Young folks think I am "way cool," but adults do not.
The women on the senior bus, refuse to do anything "radical," like see a movie, or have breakfast or lunch together.

Usually I am very upbeat in winter - when the weather is miserable I do fine. Not so much anymore. Just don't know where I fit in. Napping is the best thing I do. Hope I haven't bummed you out. But, your mistake was asking about me.

Seems to be a lot of 59 year olds on BYC now - do they realize next birthday, they will be eligible in most areas, for their SENIOR DISCOUNTS? My mother adamently refused to accept, she decided she wasn't old enough (HA!). My brother got his discount early simply because he went bald . I'm happy when I get the discount- why not? I got mine because I went "white haired" - no joke after my son was born.

PS Ron, I am not talking about you. You are a real mench (a real man)

Didn't you just imply how quickly he reached thirty? It won't be any slower getting to 50! 2/3rds the time actually... Matter of fact, I expect when he gets there, it will seem like just yesterday you were discussing him being 30! :hmm Time, in general, is fourth or fifth dimensional stuff... It's fast and slow at the same time and moves differently for each individual person. Even if they are standing right next to each other :idunno:bow

Diva, we all expect and hope that you are indeed around for your son's 50th. Is there some unrevealed reason why you expect you won't be? You seem pretty lively here, to me, despite all the napping and such.

Micro, good luck with your upcoming test. As long as you don't need to go ... --- ... during it, you should be fine ;)

Bruce, glad that now you'll be able to visit your M-I-L more often. I hope you all enjoy your (standard issue) food that wasn't quite right when DD1 was along.

SCG, my weekend plans are to enjoy the best football weekend of the year; the divisional round of the playoffs. 4 games, the 8 best teams, 2 days with 2 games each day. Sorry this coming weekend isn't all that thrilling for you, but glad you have a great weekend coming up the one after! Looking fwd to the reveal! :caf:pop

My first New Year bonus arrived today. Twin doelings :love

First time I tried to upload, it said failure and that I needed to be signed in to do that... WTH? I WAS signed in or I wouldn't have been able to do everything before the picture. :rant:barnie:he Luckily I was able to copy the above work before signing back in, then paste it to a new window here. This has happened to me several times over the past week or so. Has anyone else had this issue? Getting signed out 1/2 way through doing something?
I have one more after the new 30 year old. He’s 27. It buys me just a little more time. Why, yes, I am in denial, but it’s not a terrible place to be...

@drumstickdiva my mom was 33 when she had me. I was a miracle baby as she and my dad had married when she was 15. Dad was almost 8 years older than she was so they had given up having a baby and adopted my brother when he was a day old infant, 7 years before I popped into the world.

Sure it wasn't the best case scenario but I grew up being more independent and stronger and I bet your son is that way also.

BUT you have to consider that people are living longer these days. You may very well live to be in your 90s. The trick is staying active and productive into your 90s, As much as you can and that means taking care of yourself.

The Rheumy told me this week not to let any other doctor change anything for me as far as my rheumatic medications are concerned that I was basically a healthy person and doing very well on the regime of medications they had me on. That was really the best thing she could say to me because I was feeling pretty bummed on the number of pills I am taking along with the weekly shot.

34. Yep, 34 pills a day. But if it helps me live to be 90+ years of age, I'll gladly take more. I won't like it but I'll take them.

Sorry you had a bad year Diva, but try to put it behind you and move forward. You're an awesome individual and though I'm soon to be 62 (yeah, I know a young pup to some of you) I think you're a pretty cool gal! Don't let the previous (select your choice of a variety of four <or more> letter words here) president make you feel less of a person or that you don't have a right to live. He was and is a waste of breathable air. Same goes for the other jackwad you allowed to drag you down. Disallow it now, throw it all to the side and get on with being you. I hope things get better for you as this year progresses. :hugs:hugs

I try not to get political but am sad that mis information made DD feel bad!

Those against the health care act made up the euthanasia stuff and of course once things get out it has a life of it's own. Obama never said that about old people and the bill did not have it either.

I made it to the dentist today. I am now waiting for an insurance quote to see how much the crown will be and if they approve it.

The edge of the toot broke off under a filling. The tooth is a baby tooth and the roots are fused into the jaw. There is not pain but I have to be careful about chewing on that side

She's taking a 4 year nursing course, but when she graduates, will qualify as an RN.
......
That is very cool! I guess there are more uses for a smart phone than watching videos and following forums ;)

Had my son at 38, he's 33 now. Don't think I'll be around to see him turn 50. :hit
Oh come now DD, you'll only be 88!

:ya How nice! Were you expecting them today?

This has happened to me several times over the past week or so. Has anyone else had this issue? Getting signed out 1/2 way through doing something?
Nope, never had that happen, guess you are even more special than I thought!

Thank you Ron. There is way too much misinformation out on the web and elsewhere. Once repeated it somehow becomes a "fact".
