The Old Folks Home

Good morning, all, stay warm.
Too late, I already went outside. Twice.

I just wanted to tell you guys that Microchick's 14 year old dog died peacefully at home.
:( :hugs@microchick

All my real plates, utensils, pots and pans are in the sink, too cold & lazy to do them. Plus the kitchen is really cold. No dishwasher but me- 1947 model, never repaired.
They don't make appliances like they used to DD! I bet your dishwasher is working pretty much as well as it did in 1967. I have a propane cooking stove that is 16 years older than your dishwasher and it still works fine.

Don't know how you are going to wash your plastic dishes if the sink is full of regular dishes, pots and pans. Guess you need to wash them to make room for the plastic ones.

Maybe it would be better Beer Can, if you invited the birds inside. :idunno
:gig:lau
We've had one 'house chicken' in the past, DW hatched it out from a broody that hatched, extra egg didn't hatch, she put it under a light bulb. I thought she was wasting her time (before I had a incubator), but it hatched, and we had a house bird. Was hard getting it integrated into the brood wanted nothing to do with real chicken mamma at first, wanted it's mamma, DW, and supposedly she hates my chickens Lol. Don't want that ever again Lol.

:fl Maybe the JFK flight will be delayed just enough.

If it wasn't for DA DD2 going off the road AGAIN! on the way to work I would not have gone out at 8 AM in -11°F to help DW shovel out her car to go deal with the DA daughter.

This is the THIRD time she's gone off the road, needing to be pulled out, twice last year. 1st one damaged the front end but it was drivable, some good Samaritan with a truck pulled her out. Had a repair appointment 3 months out. 2nd time she didn't make it 3 miles from home, car towed to the repair place, cost her about $850.

And let's not forget that JUST last week she tapped the hitch on a truck in front of her (cracked her new bumper but apparently he didn't even notice) and nearly went off the road avoiding running into the back of another car a while later. I think we should have skipped college and sent her to winter driving school. She clearly can't figure out that you need to go SLOW and leave a lot of DISTANCE between you and the vehicle in front. This time not only did she go off the road (and apparently couldn't get out of the car so I imagine a goodly percentage of the front was buried in a snowbank. She managed to rear end a lady in the process.

DW said it was on a curve and not a good place to be. The towing company (called by AAA) picked up the car, turned around and left. She figured they would stop and ask where she wanted the car. She only had the name on the truck. I found them via Google, two locations so I called the one closest to Cambridge (12 miles east of us and where she crashed) Nope, didn't pick it up but he called their other location and they have it. 5 miles north of us. Not sure why AAA didn't call in the closer truck, maybe they were busy.

:he :he :he :barnie :he :he :he

My youngest brother and his girlfriend have hit five deer in one yr, twice having her new car repaired. Maybe I've just been lucky but I think they just don't pay attention . I've had slight contact and many close calls, once a dumb deer run right into the side of my driver side door. Never any significant damage. Always on the lookout for them, part of living in a deer prominent area, and when you see one, slow the F down fast, even if it's just standing there, never know what they are going to do, usually just run right out in front of you at the last second. They're like big rabbit's. IDK? I feel like telling them five deer in one yr? Learn how to drive..
Figure if I say that though karma, I'll probably total out a car on a deer myself :gig
