Before that, DH and I hiked out to check ice damage on one of our radio antennas. It's a huge 1300 foot loop antenna. Our only casualty to the weather so far with 3 breaks from ice and wind. It got up to 35 degrees here today so some of the ice melted....in time for more snow on Friday....and Sunday....

Blasted lying no good ground hog.:rant
I think the groundhog's predictions are worth as much as he is paid. Actually a lot less since he gets room and board year round whether he is right or wrong.

What does it take to fix the antenna?? That is a LOT of wire.

Very impressive design, Cap. Anxious to see the finished product.

DH asked me today how much an Amish made quilt sold for and in looking it up I found this. It's called Light in the Valley.

I was frankly astounded by this design and the number of color combinations that I found.
Great opticals there!

Got no dog.

Is there a category for best derp face?
I'm sure Ripley can hold her own in several categories, not just a special one for her ;)

With the ice we've had I decided to get some Yaktrax. They sell them at the store DW's post office is "in". They were out of the Large Monday but they came in yesterday so she bought them and gave them to me so I would have them for this morning along with a candy bar and a bottle of red wine. She said "Happy Valentine's Day early".

This morning I was still in bed half asleep, she was about ready to go to work and came in and I heard the lid on the metal wastebasket clang. Didn't think much about it other than it was odd for her to do that when I was still in bed. I don't think she has ever done it before.
Me: Happy Valentine's Day
Her: Happy Thursday. I said Happy Valentine's Day yesterday.
Odd I think but true enough.
Her: I emptied this can and the one in the bathroom. OK it clicks in - Thursday = trash day and I have to get up and get the big cans out to the road.
Me: Maybe you should have said Happy Trash Day

Low key on VD here. DH wrote me a sweet, romantic note that I found in my Email this morning. He had one waiting for him. He's going to make dinner for me tonight.

It's actually 51 degrees here today. Most of the ice is melted, at least on the runs and the nets as well as the yard.Road still sux and still no garbage pick up...but you can sure bet they will bust their humps cashing that check I just sent them...I had a friend in Texas who would have called them 14 carat Morons....come to think of it we may be the morons for contracting with them. Unfortunately they only game in town and asthma won't let us burn trash like a lot of people do around here.

We got out and repaired part of the wire on our antenna. Instead of a loop it's more of a big ol C. Going to have to replace the wire once the weather settles down. Usually we go out and solder it in the field to repair breaks. Lots of fun in 20 degree weather when the wind is blowing about 30mph. Putting up the new wire is a blast and includes crossbows, hiking and lots of swearing.

2-3 inches of snow tomorrow with a high of 19 and a low of 8. Back to winter. But today is what Feb is usually like in MO.
