The Old Folks Home

They hire Cap to incubate them?

I ASSUME wild quail will sit on eggs. I also didn't know domesticated quail did not.
Yes, wild ones will. But you are likely not planning to buy them either. Most educated folks read up on breeds they have or want to buy.

The HAM radio friend of ours that is ordering the Fayoumi chicks for me along with his chick order has a pair of quail. Trying to remember what breed they are. If I remember right they are a coturnix. Beautiful birds. I thought he said they were French coturnix but they were a gorgeous fawn like color, almost a peach. He offered me some eggs to hatch. They would have to cohabitate with the stupid bantams so probably not a good idea. Or would they get along okay, @CapricornFarm?

Just woke up. It's still sneeting here, you know, snow crossed with sleet. I don't mind snow but I have a healthy hate for ice developing. I was able to go 4 days without having to wear my snow cleat boots. DH just gave me the heads up to wear my boots when I go out.

Poor chickens. They will be so glad when they can get outside and stay outside more than one day in a row.

Quail should be kept separate from chickens.

:yesss::yesss::yesss: BUT grocery stores and Walgreens did not have any H.D.Rocky Road, all I manage to get is rain checks - without sale about $ 6. per 14 oz. Honestly, they are just killin' me. The government should subsidize the purchase. I don't drink, smoke, or do drugs.

I'll start a citizens petition on that.

Took the dog for a shorter walk than normal today, but BF's mom got her 3 cases sewn (and was so proud... nephew loved his) so it was worth shorting it by a mile and a half.

We went over the frozen pond again today and watched some snowmobilers. Some were flying across it, others were pulling their kids in sleds behind them. It really was peaceful to watch. Had to hurry home and get the chores done before dark.

Also pulled some frozen corn out of the fridge from summer and had corn on the cob. Yummm.
