The Old Folks Home

My taste buds will never be the same!
:bow And later it will be a moving experience. Sorry, I just had to say that. We all sound like a bunch of old people sitting around the nursing home comparing our bowel complaints.

And they say the memory is the first thing to go.....nah, it's the digestive system, trust me.

61 here today. The sun just came out. Lost my little hen Sparkles today. The one that was speculated as having a reproductive cancer. She probably did. She was skin and bones.I found her this morning and she looked like she had stroked. She kept having these little seizures and couldn't stand--just rolled on her side and pulled her head back till it was resting on her back with these back and forth motions like she was saying no. I've been expecting it since I first wrote about her but truly believe that keeping her in her own pen and out of bright light extended her life at least a year. Just a sweet little hen. But I'm glad it's over for her.

Other than that same old same old. Two and a half weeks till Fayoumi chicks arrive. Keep thinking about those little ducklings I saw on Sunday...no no, I will resist....

Sorry you lost your hen. I discovered one pullet has frostbit toes, tips are black, and several have crooked toes. I guess they weren't using the big perches i gave them.

Oh boy. Got our storm .. settled down for a while. Snowing again. Took Lisa to vascular surgeon. Fusulia not good enough. Going in early tomorrow to have the port put in. She can't go back to the facility to where she's been, needs to be in a skilled nursing home as long as the port is in. So, had to find her a place today, she packed some today.. will go in after surgery. Pretty happy that she will go to the place she was in when she was recouping from her drowning incident. Great place, closer to us, will transport her to dialysis ..which starts on Friday. Finally! Oh...got my first egg from , pretty sure, the Black Sexlink. Always something in a day to be grateful for. :)
