The Old Folks Home

@penny1960 :hugs. I dropped my partial plate and broke it once....at 5AM getting ready to drive to work. Stopped on the way in out of desperation and bought a tube of crazy glue and glued the piece back on. Worked for 5 years! Couldn't believe it and neither could the dentist when I finally took it in for repair.

Busy here. They are calling for rain over the next three days so we were out chaining wood and hauling it in so it was in the barn and we could work at splitting it while it's raining.

TRex is still living up to her name. She was off the nest this morning but probably has her fluffy butt back on whatever eggs have been laid today. Told DH he could go out with me and get the eggs tonight. I was tired of getting chewed on like an old bone. She is still grabbing sleeves and shaking her head like a dog every chance she gets. I'm not looking for broodies this year but I already warned DH that if she got any more serious than she is I'm sticking three eggs under her, putting her in the broody coop and not touching her other than to candle eggs and give her feed and water.I value my skin too much.

Also went into town and distributed 16 dozen eggs this morning. Girls have been laying since February and I can't find their off switch. Getting a dozen and a half eggs per day from them.

That is a lot of eggs!

Broody hens can be quite fierce. I hope she breaks on her own for you

I know!

They should have fixed up the coop and run before getting new ones.
You might need to plan a midnight run to rescue those new birds.

The one now is good but the insurance coverage is not so good. That is not his fault though
Doesn't seem like any dental insurance is very good.

My grandmother waaaaay back in the day was on a cruise to Singapore/Hong Kong. The ship encountered rough seas and she got urpy. While poised over the commode and violently heaving, her top plate came out and was lost to the fishes. When they arrived at port she went to a local dentist and got fitted for a new set of choppers...which, when she got the plate, had decidedly larger front teeth than what she had previously as they were made to emulate the local ethnicity. Oops! We laughed about it for years. In all the photos from the trip she smiled a very rabbity grin.

Oh peep, that is too funny! What a great memory for you.

Ron, I'm not holding out much hope that she will break herself. She is a pretty determined little girl. Sure enough, she had 5 eggs under her tonight. I've gotten good at moving fast and snatching the eggs out in two grabs. Tonight I swapped her 5 eggs for 2 ceramic ones. Gotta see how serious she really is about this.

Just got word. Chicks are in the mail:celebrate:weeETA either tomorrow or Wednesday. I'll probably pick them up on Friday. Our friend wants to keep them for a couple of days to give them electrolytes and chow. In all honesty I can hardly wait to get them!
