Enjoy the crafts and relocating the new babies!Morning all! Perfect spring day here today. Temps to 80, plenty of sun. Everything is blooming and the air smells wonderful. It's one of those days I was longing for in January.
Hopefully we have lit our last fire for the season.
Good to hear that SGC is alright just busy. I can relate to that.Pups go to the vets tomorrow for their second round of vaccinations. It will be like herding cats in a lightening storm. They are always so wired in the morning. I'll be glad when we can trust them running free in the pasture and they can burn off some of their excess energy.
I wish they could give me some of that energy, LOL.
I'm working on the last embroidered square for my 'Life on the Farm' quilt. If I'm lucky I can get a half an hour or so worth of work on it in the evening after all the critters are asleep. When it's done I can start doing the layout. I've been working on it since last fall but it really doesn't seem that long since I started it. 13 squares in 6-7 months. I figured it would be a 1.5-2 year project since I'm hand quilting.and it's a king sized quilt.
On the do list today, Move the Fayoumi juveniles to the grow out pen so they can start getting used to the flock. The bantm, Juliette is due to hatch her single egg in the next few days and I want to move her inside to the brooder since she is so small. Time to play shuffle the birds!
They had Fayoumi chicks at Rural king last time I was there. They had a great selection!Tell me about it, Pen. Our boy Dingo used to show the younger dogs how to get through the barbed wire. Then one day they found a weak spot and the little girl, Spotty, got clipped by the neighbor's truck. We wound up hot wiring the fence and put the hot wire so it was between the two strands of barbed wire they were slipping through. Worked like a charm, especially when Dingo heisted his leg against it one afternoon. That dog never went near that fence again.
When we get through the trainging stage with the pups we plan to move the fence to the front and replace the barbed wire with welded fence. It'll work till they discover that the other three boundaries are fenced with 6 strand barbed wire.
They are already testing the new wire. They will walk along it and one of the females will grip the wire with their teeth and pull on it. Too smart for their own good.
Heard my little Fayoumi rooster crow today for the first time. He's 5 weeks old so he's right on schedule. Getting ready to move them out to the broody pen.
