Thank God for the Old Folks.. and my few other threads

This morning with grandma....
Grandma Hollering down the hall
"ARE YOU UP?"
Me in Bed with my Cpap mask
"Mfthey... NO"
"AAre you up"
Ripping the mask off
"NO"
"Are you UP" shes walking into the other room
I scream .... "I AM NOW."
We meet in the hall and she asks
"Should I get dressed"
I say "YES"
She looked at me and ....
"Your wearing .... um"
"PJs Grandma"
"Yes..."
She goes back in her room and I have the next ten minutes to myself....
Bathroom.
Change clothes
Dole out pills
set out breakfast tray
Make Corn flakes
Take MY pills
Test my Blood Glucose and write it in the log
Answer a few emails
And then...

Grandma
"I SEE Breakfast"
Light goes on in the living room
TV comes on.

Whew I didnt have to Tell her how to turn the TV on today ....

Now I can go GEt COFFEE and power down a Breakfast bowl... I can only leave her now for about half hour... Shes Going to be 103 in July.


Tired before I got fully awake.... Today is good shes in a good mood and Chatty... Knows shes not making sense but instead of getting mad lets me fill in the words... A very good thing.

Bless you for caring for her. My depression wouldn't let me do more than a year with Mom on top of 6 months with Aunt.

Been Doing this level about three. But I have been with grandma since she turned 90...
She broke her hip in 94 and had to quit driving at 95...

been to an actual Psychologist for pre-surgery evaluation and he said he was very concerned about How Depressed I really was. Like you before my health went out the window My coping mechanism was Working on things... Not so physical as you but doing art projects....

As it is I have stopped everything... and my Psychologist is concerned. I know me though. As soon as the stress of the surgery is finalized and I am into the new routine I will start coping again.

Rain chances done for a bit, so yard work it is! Supposed to hit 85 today. Mowing in the afternoon, watering and pruning this morning. Need to edge the property as it's getting shaggy. Cleaning of the juvie pen also on tap, so yet another batch of cockadoodle comb-sprouters will be having a one-way field trip to the raptor rescue.

Yesterday I weeded the Santa Fe property, cool and cloudy. I had been there a few weeks ago and noticed the inch-high sproutings.... And, yes, it was a jungle by the time I got back to it. Took out 3 bushels of weeds from the front and back. The front yard is all in bloom with lavender, catmint, and some other ground cover that has gone upright with flowers. It's a sea of purple hues. Next trip up we'll spread more river rock and contemplate adding a few young trees to the backyard.

She's off hiking, and camping. She'll be back soon with lots of wonderful photos.

Yep, got an email from her, she's been hiking in Arizona and Utah. I remember lots of great pictures from prior trips.

As it is I have stopped everything... and my Psychologist is concerned. I know me though. As soon as the stress of the surgery is finalized and I am into the new routine I will start coping again.

I hope you gave that info to the psychologist so s/he understands better. I'm sure the stress of dealing with your grandmother wears you down a lot
