The Old Folks Home

Thanks penny and cap. Problem is @penny1960, is that I'm not taking any gout meds now due to the severe reaction that I had and no response from the doctor's office after being promised that somebody, namely the PA would call me back. It was last Friday that I called and I'm still waiting. In the meantime, no way I'm taking that medicine. Not when my stomach issues are only 75% resolved. I'd rather have the pain to deal with than that.

Yeah, bummer about the strawberries. I usually eat one for every two I pick, LOL!

Got my sickly little chick in the incubator. She/He isn't doing well but I got it to swallow a couple three drops of sugar and eletrolyte water. It actec lke it lost it's breath every time it swallowed and it did do a small poo. I'm not expecting it to live but at least mom isn't stomping on it and beating the dirt out of me every time I check on it.

I think that hen is related to SGC's turkey!:lau Only difference is that this one will be turned into dinner once she raises her chicks...which she finally got serious about once I pulled the weak chick out from under her.

micro, Someone posted a pic of some cherries on another thread. The conversation ensued that in addition to tasting good, they were good for gout. I did some checking. There's actually something to it, that is confirmed in the medical community. Eating 20 cherries a day, helps reduce flare ups. You might want to give it a try. As with many things natural, it may not work instantly, but over a course of time. I'd be getting me some cherries, and trying it.

Yep, @drumstickdiva, you read the same thing I did. I bought two bags of frozen sweet cherries yesterday. The instructions are to eat a half a cup a day which probably is around twenty cherries.

My plans were to plant two cherry trees this year but then I read that they are highly susceptible to Fire blight which we have in abundance here so no go on that plan.

I've read that you ca also use the concentrated cherry juice.diluted and drink a glass a day. It really doesn't matter if it is juice or fruit.
