The Old Folks Home

Thanks Clue. I finally got through to Northeastern Medical Center. They are a 'teaching' hospital due to the College of Osteopathy being there so I was curious. Yep, they want 50% up front.

Whow times have changed. The only time we asked a patient to pay up front was if they had been turned into collection for non payment and came back for services after paying. Did we get stung? Sure, lots of times. We stood by the oath though that medical needs surpass financial capability. Many times we went in late at night or on weekends or holidays to see an emergency patient. 50% of the time we never got paid. Sad people are such deadbeats.

Morning all.

Thanks Diva! 66 years! What a concept!

@CapricornFarm, I forgot to add about the Doxy. Absolutely be careful with sun exposure. It will make you sun sensitive and you will fry like....well, chicken if you give it a chance.

With my own Lyme disease experience I learned that the bacteria go through a 30 day cycle where they, form cysts and will go dormant. They have found that the cystic form of the bacteria will follow a 30 day cycle where they will re-emerge. You have to stay on the antibiotic long enough to kill off the re-emerging bacteria that emerge from the cystic cycle. I was on antibiotic for over 6 months and it took about a year and a half before I felt better.

Also, did anyone explain Herxheimer effect to you? Be prepared to feel worse when the antibiotic kicks in and the bacteria start dying off. Drink lots of water. I felt like I was floating from all the lemon water I drank. Like I said earlier, epsom salt baths will make you feel better.

@perchie.girl. Hope you are feeling better today.

No big plans. DH is cooking dinner for me. I have cake and ice cream on board and am really looking forward to that cake!:drool:drool My weight is holding steady, thank goodness.

Ran into something interesting yesterday when they scheduled my MRI. Has anyone ever heard of having to prepay for a procedure? I have medicare which pays 80% then I am responsible for my part which is an adjusted 20% of the remaining costs. They want 422.03$ up front. Strange. Especially since I write these guys checks as soon as I get a statement from them. So I'm trying to call the other hospital in the area to see if they do the same thing.Just curious.
I have not heard of pre pay. Hopefully we will be able to see prices soon too.

Happy Birthday!

I tried to read about that Doctor, but was having problems wading through it. I did know about the skin exposure to sun. I try to only do things in the shade anyway, to avoid skin cancer. Sounds like I still have a lot to deal with.

Thanks Bruce.... I am still going to head to my Psychologist though. I been in a mess of guilt over her from the get go....
Excellent plan. You have not only the obvious emotional and physical stresses: surgery and Grandma's physical move to a new home but also the (perhaps) not obvious: You put your life on hold to take care of Grandma. You have just lost your "job", a big part of your day to day purpose in life. You've been making plans for what you want to do at your house when you are no longer Grandma's primary caregiver and all of a sudden that is a reality. That is all quite a huge pot of emotional turmoil. :hugs

Yeah but how much do they want for the scan compared to the first hospital?

Happy birthday, @microchick ! I’m 10 days older than you!
That means @microchick has to refer to you as "ma'am" showing respect for her elders.;)
