The Old Folks Home

Dh replaced the belt on my truck. That didn't fix it. It tries to turn over, but can't. He got to searching, and the belt whacked something else. It's a part that senses, and controls gas flow. When the belt whacked it, it bent it.

Dh tried to remove it, but broke the bolt in the hole, which is in the engine block. Now he's got to remove the radiator, etc. to get to the engine block, and drill out the old bolt, and put a new one in to hold that part in place. He can't see anything else that the belt whipping around, may have hit, and broken, so we're hoping this fixes it. If that doesn't fix it, we will wait until my mechanic is home from vacation, and have him fix it, but it sure would be nice, and cheaper if DH could get it fixed.
I always had a hard time drilling out broken off bolts. Good luck with that. I'm sure it's frustrating.

He's had some success, but yes it's hard drilling out broken off bolts. The good news is, if he can't get it drilled out good, according to some of the youtube videos, there is an area right next to the original hole, that he can drill a new hole. Apparently, this is a fairly common problem. Enough so, that Ford changed the design, and location of this part on newer models, for this very reason.

Morning all! Happy Sunday.

@KDOGG331 definitly have your problems with joint pain and numbness as soon as you can. You don't want to wind up with problems like I'm having now when you get to be in your 50s-60s. Trust me, I was a lot like you. Very physically active. I had two horses so not unusual for me to be out stacking bales of hay and straw and mucking out my own stalls.

I was a country girl and worked like one so no big surprise that I'm having all the problems I am now plus I have my rheumatic problems on top which are genetic.

But you want to start taking care of yourself now so you can enjoy your 'senior' years with as few of problems as possible. My wish list I made of things I wanted to do once I was retired is rapidly dwindling due to the problems I'm having with my joints and spine. Trust me. If you deal with things now and learn how to prevent further problems, you will not regret it once you get to be older.

The weather has been beautiful here. It's slowly warming up again but we have been enjoying temps in the low to mid 80s so DH and I have been going for walks every evening. If I could bottle this time of the year for opening in January and February I would do it for sure. As it is one of my favorite times of the year.

Y'all have a relaxing Sunday and try not to worry about money. I've learned that things usually take care of themselves that way and the 'dry' spell is only temporary.

@getaclue, give your husband a hug. He's in there fighing! Our van keeps trashing the motor that raises and lowers the driver's side window. DH has fixed it twice and bingo! I lowered the window the other day and it would't go back up again. DH is going to work on it today for me but it never rains but it pours when it comes to flushing money down the drain. Just when you think you are making progress BAM! An unexpected expense comes up. It'll get better. All you can do is pull the old belt in another notch and hang on till it does!

Cinnamon rolls for breakfast this morning. Screw the diet time! LOL!

Okay I definitely need to do something because today my hand was numb/tingly the entire day. Sometimes worse than other times but still, didn’t go away the whole day even if it was less noticeable sometimes. Woke up like that.
Go see a Doctor.

Thank you!! This is really helpful. I definitely need to be taking care of myself better. Currently I’m not really active at all and extremely out of shape. :hide

But it sounds like even if I was very active it could happen too?

Definitely need to do something though cause I’m pretty sure it’s not normal.

Although I wonder if it’s all separate problems or if it’s just symptoms of something bigger??

Currently though my arm is numb again today.

Guess we’ll see if it stays numb ha

Go see a Doctor.

KDOG, get to the doctor.

micro, you said a mouthful.

Yeah I’m definitely going to as soon as I get home. Can’t right now because we’re not gonna be home until probably at least tomorrow. But I guess I could at least call and make an appointment. So far it’s

If it's a matter of bad body mechanics you need to learn how to do strenous things without causing undo stress to your joints. You also need to start thinking about building bone. That means concussion exercises that impact your joints in a good way. Jogging is one example. Walking, yep. Low impact that has been suggested to me that builds bone and strengthens joints is swimming.

You are in your child bearing years now, KDOGG. Think ahead 20 years to menopause and what it is going to mean to your body. Now's the time, trust me.

Thank you, that makes sense. I used to be a lot more active but then last like 5, 6 years or even more ha, I really haven’t been at all ha I sit around a lot and I’m on my phone like literally constantly. :hide

I need to get out more. Been thinking of starting running or swimming or at least walking. Been walking more lately. Need to keep it up

And yeah... it’s definitely not going to be good. :hide

I need to start moving now. I’m not sure if it’s bad mechanics or just worn down/deteriorating body from not doing anything/not using it. :hide

There are advantages, and disadvantages of owning an old vehicle.
Yep I spent three months one time Reaching into my diesel with the ignition on to pop up the fuel shut off solenoid. So I could start the truck. cut a divit in my arm every time.
I couldnt afford the three hundred to fix it.
