The Old Folks Home

Wow, I guess I've had a pretty boring life! And just maybe I'm glad of that!!!
LOL... as familys go mine is pretty colorful.... Havent gotten in to grandmas side or my dads family...

Great grandma married a man who was much older than her... She was sixteen he was almost thirty. He had two kids from a previous marriage... His wife committed suicide... His kids were fourteen and eleven. His previous wife was also his direct cousin... Great grandma would play dolls with the fourteen year old daugter but she was really scared of the Boy.

One time when she was alone after having her first baby Sleeping... she woke to a noise and found the boy standing over her with a butcher knife. Grandpa Robbins came in just in time and ran the boy off. He never came back. Eventually they put him in an asylum where he spent most of his life.

The girl went on to marry and have a life of her own. While Grandma Robbins had babies every two years after that. Two still borns and eight kids later.... she was in her middle thirties by then and the local expert in Child birth. she was on call as midwife to the county... The mailman would pick her up because he was the only one with a car.

Oh and they lived in a dug out on the plains in Colorado. Dirt flooors house was dug into the ground because wood was hard to come by. they had a roof and window s up
They all slept in one bed... When the girls started to go through puberty Grandpa Robins dug another room for them.

Grandpa Robbins had a temper all the kids would scurry out of his way... If Grandma caught him Beating the Mules with the harness chains she would go out and talk softly to him and tell him to stop it. he would...

Gee Penny, the best I can do with my family is I had an uncle on my mom's side of the family escaped from prison.....they never came looking for him. He lived out his life in the city where I was born and raised.

That rooster looks almost like my Egyptian Fayoumi Rooster, Tut. I need to get a current picture of him but he is a strikingly handsome bird, but the pullets are gorgeous also.

I levered the rehab coop up a bit closer to level. It was hot and involved a crow bar, a metal pipe, lots of boards and six of those border stones for gardens.
Hopefully tomorrow I can cut another hole for the nest box, and get the box installed. I plan to put the bantam cochins in there.

My family history contains a psychiatric hospitalization and left-leaning activists, as well as a couple of physician cousins. That’s all the excitement there.

When my father was a boy, his father couldn’t find a job for two years during the Depression. The bank didn’t take their house. They lived there while he hunted for work, but eventually chucked it and went camping in NH for six months!

Remind me to tell you the other cool story about my father in the Army. Late now.

Gee, now I wanna find out if we have any crazy stories like these in our family. :lau

The most I have for now is alcoholism on both sides of the family. :lau

My great grandfather did found Ocean Spray though but then my dad’s dad I think sold all his shares or else they kicked him out or something like that. He was an alcoholic and died when my dad was 18 so I never met him.

But we could be rich right now if he hadn’t lost the shares. :lau :barnie

It started pouring out early this morning, and rained the entire day. I cleaned the kitchen this morning, and cooked supper tonight, and that's about all I accomplished. Well, that's not entirely true. With all the rain, the 3 grands were cooped up. We all played a Mario Party a couple times, to help keep them amused. I'm about to take a shower shortly. I may sort a mealworm bin, or two after that.
