The Old Folks Home

Looks scary to me! My daughter once tried this (on the sidewalk) on her Rollerblades. Not a good idea!. We had to have a discussion about our dog, Zaidi, not being very smart about traffic. Squirrel?
Bwhahahah... Thats what the slip knot is for... emergency release. Or better yet a bank robbers knot... Best quick release ever invented.

Bank robbers knot comes completely free from the hitch point leaving you with the rope in your hand and the animal where you can turn them to face you if needed.

better learn how to use a slip knot. Many dogs can do 35 miles an hour... adrenalyn gets pumping they should know Gee and Haw as well as slow down ... in word commands as well. Gee means Right Haw means left...

Oh yeah, I’ve done a lot of research on all the commands and equipment and everything as well as regular sled dog info. Love all that stuff haha

Been teaching them some of the commands and Gator knew some too. :)

He only really knew gee and haw though. I’ve been working on more with Libby and Franklin.

We've been working on WHOA (self explanatory lol) and “on by” (leave it and keep going. Don’t stop) She was always pretty good at leave it/on by and ignores most things. Franklin still lunges at squirrels occasionally and doesn’t really have the build for it so probably won’t with him lol

I think they sell harnesses now that have the quick release. :)

the big loop goes to what ever you have on your body.... The little loop is attached to a quick release pin. When you pull that pin the whole rig removes from your body.

cheaper to learn how to do a bank robbers knot... but then I am me... I know stuff that can be used more than one place.... LOL.

Here is a quick release for skiiers.

I guess Water skiers use them too. Oh and they are only seven bucks... the harness ones are uber expensive 65.00 a pair.... SMH... but of course they have different style attach points and lots of harness leather on them.

I was thinking of just buying one of those skijoring belts or something. They have kits and stuff that include the dogs harness, the people harness (well, belt lol), the lines, collar, etc. :)

very interesting method of travel. But I can picture getting dragged on my butt through the snow. No thanks.

I am a little nervous because the dog is totally in control. Not like in regular shoes where you can just tighten the leash/stand your ground and control them if they pull lol of course, theoretically, they should be trained and listen to commands, which is why most people start with the ground work and teaching commands well before they ever actually hook the dog up, definitely don’t just hook the dog up and go, but still.... even the best trained dog can see a deer or something and bolt lol

Although that said, I think the summer equivalent... bikejoring... makes me more nervous because if you fall, you fall on concrete lol or dirt if it’s a mountain bike but still.

But at least bikes have brakes lol

You can hook the dog up to pull out front/actually pull you like with skijoring and dog sledding or they have attachments now to put on the side of the bike and the dog just trots along/gets the exercise but doesn’t actually pull you. I think that seems safer lol

But they both seem fun hah

But definitely need to be training enough to ignore stuff.

Although a lot of dogs love running and will probably be having so much fun they won’t want to go after something hah
