The Old Folks Home

Today I shoveled the deck outside the coop and invited everybody out. They have been out in the snow before, but not for a few days (it’s been very cold, zero and below, and windy). They gathered in front of the coop, tasting the chopped hay I put out there, standing on one foot and looking at the white deck with suspicion.

Does one ever tire of watching goofy chickens? They crack me up daily.

I have my prime rib cooking... a stint in the refrigerator firmed it right up... The lemon juice and salt bath took away the slimyness.

I salted the heck out of it and pressed fresh cracked pepper all over it and shoved Garlic cloves in the meat and the fat making a grid about every two inches.... I DO NOT detect any off putting smells... Going to cook it well done just for safety... Slice and taste it when It comes out...

if its good... in the freezer it will go till Christmas dinner.

I still have the Cornish hens on standby...

The snow in the run melted today 100% gone now so the birds were out squishing around in the mud. Pretty chuckalatious to see them wearing boots made of muck. The warmer weather has the young cockerels saying OH BOY! SPRING! LET'S FIGHT! so while I was out doing some clean up I'd have to stop and occasionally separate two of the quarrelers. Even 'Old Man' who is 3 years old ventured out to supervise the silliness and show the young birds who was still boss.

So nope. Never get tired of watching them.

Feel Better! @CapricornFarm. No fun being sick at Christmas. I did that stint last winter.

Hamburgers and home made fries here today for dinner.

I know, I just can't get in the mood for Christmas when I feel so crummy.
